Man admits stabbing Christchurch street preacher 18 September 2006
Sheldon Dean Withington has admitted a stabbing that put a Christchurch street preacher in hospital for emergency surgery.
The 32-year-old unemployed man's case was set for a depositions hearing in Christchurch District Court today but he entered a guilty plea.
Defence counsel Tim Mackenzie asked for a psychiatric report to be prepared for the Crown sentencing session on October 6.
Judge Oke Blaikie agreed and asked for a probation report and a victim impact statement.
Withington admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Edward Andrews, also known as Ted Parry-Smith, a well-known Christchurch street preacher.
The incident took place near Cathedral Square about 8pm on May 25. Police prosecutor Sergeant Dave Robertson said the victim stepped between Withington and another person during the course of another incident.
"The defendant became aggressive and pulled out a 22cm steak knife and stabbed the victim in the lower groin with considerable force.
AdvertisementAdvertisement"Withington ran from the scene and was followed by a member of the public.
"The victim was admitted to hospital for emergency surgery. The knife had punctured internal organs including his bowel. He suffered considerable blood loss."
Withington has already admitted robbery, assault and theft for which he is due to be sentenced on the same date.

Watch and learn. This is exactly why I reposted and told you all NOT to go on south 7th Ave or east van Buren in Phoenix when you are there.
At ASU, MCC & GCC youa re going to bomb flat and that should be hard enough for you to deal with.
Why really push your luck as if you hit these places at just the right time, you could well end up like your friend here or worse.

Glory be to God for his greatness that he would allow this to happen. Might want to ask Him why and if it'll be YOU next.

Glory be to God for his greatness that he would allow this to happen. Might want to ask Him why and if it'll be YOU next. Why it happened? Becuase the cross is foolishness to those who are perrishing. If you think a single preacher on this board is afraid to get stabbed, beaten or killed for preaching the gospel, your mistaken.

Seriosuly though. You see nothing wrong that God fails to protect you when you're doing what he comands of you??
Kinda like God sent you out just so you'd get stabbed. Goes along with my 'God's trying to send you a message' theory.

God gave the man free will to do the stabbing. He gave the preacher the free will to be obedient and preach the gospel. God didn't fail anybody.

Then I shouldn't be reading about a street preacher getting stabbed, yet I am.

Remeber that this God that is "supposed to be" protecting us from being stabbed was the one who was beaten and nailed to a cross... We are following in his footsteps:
Phi 3:7-11 "But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead."

Ya, it goes to show that if God can't even save His own son, He sure as hell ain't gonna save you lot.
Any God that requires you to suffer just to go to heaven is a real monster. Just think, us sinners get to suffer to, BUT we have more fun then you lot! Eh, eh? Think about it. Clearly the "heathens" got the better half of the bargin.

I always considered myself to be a Christian, but alas my beliefs are not the same as some of these "Christians" so they claim I am not. And I did help kids at camp (not all of them of course, I ain't God after all ;D )

Hey, praise god from whom all blessings flow, right?
If The Dream Team likes being persecuted for righteousness's sake so much then maybe I should retract my warnings and tell them, by all means, go down to south Phoenix at night. park The Mysery Machine and get out and walk from like 11 pm to 2 am and see what you find greeting you.

Arizona needs a lot of things, which was why we moved. Not that Ohio doesn;t leave a lot to be desired also.

Hebrews 2:9-11 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified [are] all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

I like how 'tani is missing from the lineup. Still quaking in your boots, Big Momma?
I feelz like starting. Here it goes - things Shetani would die for. a) Family b) Friends c) Chernie orphans d) The autistic kidlets e) Prevention of a nuclear war f) Eradication of all genetic disease g) Eradication of all disease in general h) Liberation for women around the world i) World peace (How very Miss USA!) j) Education for all children k) An end to slavery l) Eradication of poverty, hunger, and drought m) A cure for AIDS, specifically
I could go on 'till z. In closing, I would die a million times to see any of these come true.

In closing, I would die a million times to see any of these come true. You would be better off to stay alive. Even if you did die for one of these, its a vain thing. Why is it a vain thing? Because these people you die for, they too are going to die and many of them will be tormented in hell. These noble purposes are a vain thing to die for too. The whole world soon will perish and God's kingdom will come. It is not worth it. Again God asks you, why will you die? Turn away from your sin and throw yourself upon Jesus. If you do not obey, you disobey and God says you will be put to shame and everlasting torment. Please don't perish, God is not willing. Be reasonable and shake off your vanity. Come to your senses, stop hiding in the dark and come out into the light. Do not live in the dark untill you are taken away into hell. God is not willing. Please, consider. God has told you by His servants here. Do not play the fool. He has told you over and over again. You have no excuse but you must turn to Christ and live. You must worship Him, your Maker. It is a command. Do not disobey because God is not willing to cast you into the fire.

These noble purposes are a vain thing to die for too. The whole world soon will perish and God's kingdom will come. It is not worth it. If my life were to ease suffering or provide happiness, then it was well spent. Throw me in hell all you want, man. What is my singular torment in hell compared to the millions of lives that would be saved by a cure for AIDS or an end to hunger? What pittance is my suffering relative to poor children recieving an education and a bright future? So be it. According to you, cure for AIDS = vain, self-righteous banter = worthwhile. Hmm. Again God asks you, why will you die? Turn away from your sin and throw yourself upon Jesus. Yes. Throw myself upon him in a glorious orgy, indeed.

A cure for the suffering from aids, and world hunger would be truly a great thing. However don't be confused it would not save one single life. Everyone will die and move into eternity, the healing that Jesus offers is everlasting. I would hope for and pray for a cure for Aids. But I would rather a cure for sin be administered, since it already exists.

She tani, All the things you mention you would die for; Jesus died for already. The soul that sins it shall die....this is a law given in the bible. It is also a logical evidence of our guilt, a shadow of what is to come. But praise Jesus, He brings life if you will repent of your self righteousness and trust Him.
The way you speak of God's justice indicates your lack of belief that it would actually happen. Now, think of your unbelief toward God's mercy. That mercy is for today, you may not have tomorrow. That is not a threat, it is just the truth.
People don't go to hell because they are young, they go because they reject God's salvation in Christ. We broke His Law and deserve His righteous indignation forever.....
What does your name mean to you?

The way you speak of God's justice indicates your lack of belief that it would actually happen. Now, think of your unbelief toward God's mercy. You, darling, have yet to provide me with rousing proof that your god is the correct one. See, people with functioning brains do not tend to believe whatever they are told. Get it? My name is an accurate description of me, I think.
