Sounds like you were fed a lot of wrong information.

If you want contradictions in the bible I'm going to have to start a whole new thread. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of contradictions.

Should be simple enough then for you to pop out a few off the top of your head. Let's go out with it. Or do you need to check your favorite website first to find a few?

Should be simple enough then for you to pop out a few off the top of your head. Let's go out with it. Or do you need to check your favorite website first to find a few? do you need to meet with your favorite pastor, or look up old sermon notes, to find the truth out? i do not trust websites, books, or people for that matter. i DO read those books, websites, and listen to untrustworthy people...but i do not let them run my life. i make my own decisions, and i do not live by someone else's expectations or self-proclaimed truths. micah, stop responding so ignorantly, and we'll stop feeding you such stupid answers.

I am responding ignorantly?
How does this sound: There are thousands of contradictions in the bible because I have studied it, but I can not name any of them.
Sort of like there are hundreds of pairs of shoes around my house but I can not find any of them.

I posted a contradiction right up there. So don't tell me I can't find it.

micah, one of the top of my head, god created adam and eve. god also hates sodomy. adam and eve and children must have committed incest for generations in order to reproduce. this is one of many contradictions.

Ohh, I like those last verses, ABB. I'm remembering them! *reaches for pocket Bible*

oh, I looked them up and while it may not be completely relevant, I say take note.
1 COR 13:8 "Love never fails. (which is just such a swell sentence) But whether they are prophesies, they will fail; whether they are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away."
Even the Bible says its prophesies will fail!
*wink* Told y'all it was about the love.

No contradiction at all. It is just you do not think or put things in context.
1 Corinthians 13:7 means love is always ready to believe the best of every person instead of the worst. It is not always suspicious and critical when there is no reason to be. You do not just swallow rumors about people. You investigate the facts.
Proverbs 14:5 means the simple man believes everything he hears and does not investigate the facts. If someone trys to sell you something or make a business deal with you, it is important to investigate and think before you act. The simple man does not do this. He is naive, gullible and foolish.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 is talking about prophecy in context, but can be applied to other things. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things. Hold fast that which is good. The bible tells us to judge prophecy. Is it biblical? We are commanded to beware of false prophets. False prophets give out false prophecies. We are to use judgment and discernment.
No contradictions at all there.

I second Micah, each of those verses need to be read within the context of the passage.

christians are the ones who take scriptures out of context. look at world history to figure that one out. most christians interpret the bible to their own lifestyle, which is fine by me, whatever floats your boat. however, don't call me and ask me to get you out of jail when you murder an entire neighborhood and claim that god made you do it.

Dusty,
Don't call me to get you out of jail when your nasty little habit of masturbation causes you to end up being the next Ted Bundy.

see. micah, your words confuse me. you claim to be a christian, yet your actions prove otherwise. your fruit is spoiled little boy. i think you need to pray a little harder, read a little further, about what you say, because you have time to think about it before you post it. there is no excuse for the things you say. you disgust me.

Let me get this straight. You accuse Christians on this board of being murderers when there is NO evidence, yet you admit loud and proud to being a masturbator while being married and you are upset?
YOU NEED TO REPENT!

micah, i know you do not know me and i know very little about you, but let me explain something that i am sure is foreign to you: sarcasm is a root of language. i do not masturbate, and i sincerely doubt that i accused a christian--on this board--of murder. why do you manipulate everything [we] say? i am sure god translated it for you, right, and you interpreted the context of my words...sheesh.
