Hey djpray, don't know how that is any more clear, whether you use the word "exclusively" or "independently" it still means God does all the work according to calvinists' teachings. It's taught that man is completely dead in his sins (which is true) and then compared to Lazarus being raised from the dead (which i think is a false comparison). I just think that scripture makes it plain that man has to respond to the call, but God does the calling.
Was Abraham regenerated? Scripture doesn't teach that, yet he is used as the model of faith in this sermon and scripture. But, yet he had righteousness imputed to him.
I, also, am no expert at this, it's just my observations.

Derek, is there any possibility that those who are regenerated won't repent and trust in Christ? If not (and that's what Calvinism teaches), then how is this not God doing everything? Calvinistic "regeneration" is nothing more than spiritual rape in my opinion. Sorry to use such harsh words, but I believe such words are needed when God's character is maligned in such a way...
