Tuesday December 1st 2009 East Carolina University: Greenville, NC
I was excited about today because I was planning to preach with a young man named Allen who I met the last time I preached at ECU which was two weeks ago. He said the only time he did any open air preaching was a while ago in California at a Ray Comfort conference.
Brother Patrick O’Connell and I arrived on campus near noon and I began preaching at 12:08. I preached straight forward and very loud, and after about 30 minutes a crowd of 30-40 had gathered and I preached hard and answered questions to those on hand. Unfortunately the crowd was immersed with hypocritical professing Christians, which were very vocal and disruptive by asking loaded questions and rebuking me while I preached.
A male homosexual student who is usually on hand asking questions and listening would soon arrive with a sheet of paper, which he referred to when he asked questions. Most of his questions and arguments were attempts to justify his sin, and prove that sodomy is not a sin, nor did God destroy Sodom because of sodomites. Two male students arrived as well, one with a drum and the other with a guitar. They sat nearby and played loud rhythmic music while I preached.
The crowd was up to 40-50 around 1:30 when I asked Allen to preach. He was initially reluctant but after we encouraged him he was brave enough to address the crowd for about 10 minutes concerning the law of God and judgment day. He then handed the crowd over to Brother Pat and left for class. The musicians did not beat nor strum while he addressed the crowd.
Brother Pat preached from about 1:40 to 3pm. I then preached from 3 to 4pm to crowds mainly ranging between 25 - 50 that were in no lack of hypocrites, sodomites and lesbians. Just as I was finishing up and walking to the side, a student stole my water and ran off chanting.
At 4p a student returned with a sheet of paper with several verses from 1 Corinthians chapter 13 in order to supposedly awaken me to the fact that I neither love God nor my neighbor according to the way I preach.
He stated he still sins, can’t stop and won’t stop no matter what the Bible says. We talked and answered questions to a small group of students until about 4: 20pm.
