With a sandwich board, you have two options: 1. Professionally Made 2. Home Made PROFESSIONALLY MADE:Here is the email address of the man who made mine: signs@centurytel.net He is a brother in the Lord who supports evangelism. But you could go to any sign shop and have one made. It may be more cost effective to find a local shop that prints labels. Any print shop that does t-shirts, mugs, banners, etc should be able to do it for you. The way that this brother made mine was unique and I recommend his method. He took a white board and put two large slabs of yellow sticker on it. Then he took one big black sticker, cut out the letters, and put it over the entire board. So the letters were cut out of the big black sticker, and underneath was the white board and the yellow sticker. That way, each letter was not a sticker. Those fall off in time. But rather, the entire board is covered, and the letters cut out. Some thoughts:- Use a light weight board, but not too light that it blows in the wind - Use a good color scheme to make it stand out better. I use a black backround with yellow letters. You could do red backround with white text, black backround with white text. - Use a clear, bold font. - Enlarge certain key words, example: TURN to JESUS and LIVE, etc. - It's good sometimes to have something of grace on one side and law on the other. - Make sure to mention: Jesus, Sin, Judgment, Hell, & Repentance - One sandwhich board can have 4 signs because it has 4 sides. You can make it reversable. - Some sides are good to have simple, short messages: "GO and SIN NO MORE" so everyone walking by and far away can see it. But it's also good to have more elaborate longer text, like 1Cor 6:9-10 in length, so people will stop to read all of it. - Make sure the text is stricking, or has a touch of "shock" to it, not easy to ignore or forget. Here are some examples:HOME MADEYou could also do home-made sandwich boards as well. What we did when we made a home made one was this: 1. Typed up the text using cool font on Word 2. Printed it and took it to a print shop to enlarge it and print it 3. Bought foam boards from Wal-mart 4. Entirely taped the paper to the board, taping over all of the paper using big packing tape 5. Cut slits on the top of the boards 6. Put straps through the slight and sowed it shut. This was the end result:And a friend made one very similiar:

Yes they do have a powerful impact. And they seem to be getting popular among some street/campus preachers! Lots of brothers I know either have one already or are having one made!

I never used a sandwich board. I used a sign that kinda resembled a cross which I would carry and preach. But, have you guys ever tried attracting a croud with music? I know those of the past like William Booth of the salvation army used this. And also many others of the past, who opened air preached.

I've tried attracting crowds with music. I've tried a lot. I've done magic tricks, money trivia, drama, etc.
But what I have seen to work the best is just straight preaching; a banner or a sign helps too.
Alan,
I would bring mine to Utah, but I'm not sure they will let me wear it on the plane. They are hard to pack and travel with. We'll see.

On a different board a brother expressed some concerns about the use of sandwich boards. This was my response that I thought I'd share here:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I really appreciate your genuine and sincere heart for the salvation of the lost Jon.
And I totally see and understand your concerns. I once thought the same myself.
I would agree that there are good signs and bad signs. A sign in and of itself is not good or bad, it is what is printed on it that makes it good or bad. There is nothing wrong with a McDonalds sign, but there is something wrong with an adult club sign! That's because the message determines if the sign is good or bad.
Saying something like "God hates f*gs" like Fred Phelps uses is terrible. I can't even image how much such a sign greives and breaks the heart of God!! A sign like that is not a "gospel sign" but an anti-gospel sign!
We must communicate to all people that God loves them and that God wants everyone to be saved, and that is why Jesus Christ died for them. Hell-fire preaching only awakens the soul, but it's the preaching of the cross, the preaching of the love of God manifested to the world through Jesus, which causes men to fall in love with the Lord. It's His kindness that leads us to repentance! We love Him because He first loved us!
And so we must communicate to people, that yes there is a hell and yes judgment is coming, but Jesus Christ has died for the whole world and God wants everyone to be saved! We must tell the world that God loves them if we ever expect the world to love God! And I support any sign, or sandwich board, that communicates that!
A sandwich board is a drastic measure to get the worlds attention. Brother Jon, I too share in your love for the lost and your desire for all men to come to Jesus. I've tried magic tricks, money trivia, fake corpses, t-shirts, drama's, music, etc. But after trying everything, and learning from my own experiences, I would choose a gospel sandwich board or a scripture sign over any of those any day! Because I honestly believe that a good and legitament gospel sign or sandwich board dramaticly helps an open air event.
Whether a gospel banner or sandwhich board is a "gimmick" or not doesn't have too too much relevence. I suppose that Jeremiah using a yoke was a gimmick, Isaiah walking bear foot was a gimmick, and Ezekiel laying on his side was a gimmick. But those were God-ordained "gimmicks" which were obviously designed to get peoples attention!
And that is the true heart of it, the inner spirit of it, the actual purpose of it - to get peoples attention so that they can hear the word and be saved! That is the whole spirit or purpose behind the great commission! Not to just preach to the stones and the trees, but to preach to people. But not merely to preach to people, but to see those people saved! To see those people fall in love with the Jesus who loves them!
A sign or a sandwich board is simply "designed to get people's attention!" And our message is so important, that we need to do that. After trying everything I could think of to get peoples attention, because souls are so valuable and Jesus is so worth it, I'm willing to use a banner or a sandwich board if it's going to help do that.
But obviously, if you are not convinced that they could be beneficial, then obviously nobody can expect you to support them. If I honestly thought that banners and sandwich boards would harm the gospel and harm our cause, rather then help the gospel and our cause, I would be totally against them too!! Nobody can be expected to act contrary to what he believes is right and good. Nobody can be required to do what he believes is bad!
We all must act for the glory of God and the well-being of all to the best of our ability and knowledge. We all must do what we believe is good, and we all must condemn what we believe is harmful.
From what I've seen, I honestly believe that they are good and useful in soul-winning, and that is the only reason I use them.

Funny how here a pro-sandwich board post doesn't generate too much controversy. I thought your responses by the way were great brother Jesse.
And those a couple handsome guys up there posing in the pics if I do say so myself.

A brother on a different board challenged those of us who believe in sandwich boards to do some experiments, to go to the same place one day with out one and then go to the same place with one, and mark the differences to see the benefits and the disadvantages.
Do sandwich boards push people away or draw people in?
Are sandwich boards good for open air or bad for open air?
Are sandwich boards good for one2one or bad for one2one?
THE RESULTS
From my experiment tonight at the fair, sandwich boards are great for one2one.
I made a classic "one hour sandwich board" to experiment with since I'm in Montana and my sandwich board is in Texas. We went to Walmart and bought two boards and some straps from the fabric section. Then we went to Kinkos, typed up our text on the computer, printed them off, had kinkos enlarge them, taped them to the board, and attached the straps.
On the front it read: STOP SINNING - TRUST JESUS
On the back it read: WARNING: Fornicators, Drunkards, Homosexuals, Sodomites, etc Will Not Inherit the Kingdom of God.
I went to the same fair tonight that I went to yesterday.
Results from yesterday (without sandwich board):
We handed out gospel tracts (million dollars) and I don't recall anyone denying them.
We also approached groups and individuals to talk one2one and that went well.
And we did some open air preaching at the gates, which went ok as well.
Results from tonight (with sandwich board):
We walked around the fair grounds with the sandwich board on. Rather then distance people and alienate ourselves, we got the whole fairs attention and every 5 minutes groups of teenagers would come up to talk with us.
Even if only two teenagers came and asked us about the sign, within less then 5 minutes the crowd would be up to 15 people! The sandwich board got everyones curiousity.
Rather then us having to approach people, people kept approaching us! Rather then distance people, the sandwich board drew in people!
Yesterday went well, and we were able to talk to large groups if we approached large groups. But tonight was even better because the large groups were coming to us!
My final analysis is that sandwich boards are great for both open air and one2one. I've done open air before with sandwich boards and they have always been great. We didn't do any open air this night, but we did numerous one2ones because large groups of teenagers kept coming up to us to talk to us, asking us about our sandwich board.
And the quality of the conversation as well was fantastic. You could see definite conviction on their faces. Some of them were professing Christians, one even a pastors kid, yet they admitted to smoking pot and fornicating. Their argument was forgiveness without repentance, but my point was that God would forgive their fornication and drug abuse if they STOPPED their fornicating and drug abusing! I could tell that that message really rocked them hard, one kid particularly seemed to have teary eyes and said, "How come I've never heard that before? I've never heard that in all the Churches I've been too".
I would say that tonight went better then yesterday, and the brother I'm with (and elder at a local Church) agrees with me that tonight was better then yesterday.
Closing Remarks: [/u]
Sandwich boards may not be for everyone, but they definitely are for me!!!

No , of course. Not more than Mohamed or Bhudda , Joseph Smith or the Pope are rooming the campuses. But they have some followers there certainly... Them or their parents. After all Rick Warren or Joel Osteen sell more books than Mohamed in your country. They should know who they are..
What about a board that would say :
WARNING Osteenists BennyHinnists Warrenists Copelandists RickJoynerists Judaizers JUDGEMENT IS COMING Those who follow blind false prophets will wake up in Hell. REPENT !
That would be another way to attract a crowd , and an opportunity to preach the real Gospel and Way of Jesus.
As for the ‘Immodest women’ , you are probably right in saying that it is culturally relevant, although I don’t see why there should be only women targeted by immodesty.
And maybe more importanly , I don’t know what this has to do with the Gospel of Jesus Christ , proclaimed by the apostles and the evangelists . Did Peter , Paul or Philip preached against such fruits or do they preached Jesus , when they came to reach the losts ? I can find nowhere in the Bible where apostles evangelist or prophets preach against things such as immodesty to those of the outside. They could preach against this to the Christians , to those of the outside they preached Jesus.
I know a ex-practising Muslim , very religious, who have been won to Christ here, he was completely won by the love of the Christian family leaving in the flat above his’, love expressed in deeds and by the testimony of the transformation of his own ex-Muslim sister who came to Christ before him, that brought him to “jealousy”. He came to a little church where the Christian family and his sister went , to have an eye on his sister, and he was among a group of people worshipping Jesus with all their heart and he was flabbergastered. He thought that these people loved God more than himself loved allah, and that led him to search in the Bible and eventually he was convinced of deep repentance. Now he is an evangelist here. He preach Jesus, the Crucifixion the love of God , and deep repentance.
I don’t know why some use such boards like this one, maybe USA is a special ground where many people are supposed to be Christians and understand what you are talking about? Imo, the boards with the key biblical verses on repentance should be enough. I bet that one can wait one thousand years , and no unsaved woman will be genuinely and biblically saved by preaching against immodesty. If she is a backslided Chistian that's okay, but if she is not that’s only a loss of time.

Here in the Philippines, we make our own sandwich boards/signs. Actually we usually just wear them on one side of our body. There is small piece of string tied on the board and we just drape the sign over our neck. We are on a low budget, so we make them out of cardboard, construction paper and clear plastic covering. I guess we now have 50 or 60 sandwich boards. You can get an idea of what I mean on the following youtube video of a recent time of ministry that we had outside the local cemetery. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lxy7V8-TGesDerek

I find the work being reported here very encouraging and I am planning to make a sign for the upcoming christmas period. side a. will have a wanted poster of santa on top in big letters WANTED below that a picture of santa below the pic. FOR STEALING CHRISTMAS side B. I was thinking of a verys like 3:16. I thought this appoarch might give me more chance for one on one. That is my main goal for the sign. That is attract people and have 1 on 1 or even a small group. When they come I will give them a greastest story ever told chic tract and share with them Jesus is more then a baby he is your judge and go on to explain he was born to die for your sin and he is the only way to have peace with God. I think this is a great time of year to share with the lost. People are willing to celebrate his birth but reject him as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Hopefuly we will see people repent and turn to the Lord and escape the lake of fire. Prasie God for your work I love to see the zeal and the passion you have for lost souls. Any ideas for the christmas sign would be great. Work for the night is coming.
