Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Last night was a real blessing. We went down to the Miss. State Fair at about 9. We gave a tract to just about everybody we saw walking along. We should have tracted (sp?) every car, but we only did every two or so, because when we left there were few cars left.
After walking the perimeter for a while, looking for a place to do an open-air, a security guard stopped us, who was within the gate, and we were on the sidewalk. Amazingly, he gave us a gospel tract! It was intense. So we gave him one of ours and encouraged him to stay in the Word!
We decided to preach right outside one of the main entrances/exits, even though there were at least 4 patrol cars there. We noticed this: there were candy apple vendors on two corners and the police on the other. And the candy apple was preaching his message: Get your candy apples, 1 dollar each!
I knew I couldn't let a man preach this without "lifting up my voice as a trumpet" Isaiah 58:1
He wasn't ashamed of his candy apples, and I did not want to be ashamed of King Jesus. We could have moved away from this intersection, but I just knew I had to face the police, and preach, come what may.
The police never bothered us! In fact, at least one stopped for three minutes and listened! A guy from our group gave one a tract, and the policeman said "Some of us really need to hear this message."
And this too: each one of us saw someone that we knew from work or school whom we had not effectively witnessed to, and we had an awesome opportunity to make it right! It was so great. We preached for at least 75 minutes, rebuking Jackson for its drunkenness and internet pornography, warning them that "God is angry with the wicked every day." Psalm 7:11
