I just returned from Downtown Lake Placid NY. we were told that we can't OA anymore and also we are not allowed to hand out tracts. I will be going to the police dept on Monday to get the actual law on this and then to the village meeting next week. I will probably ultimately need an attorney. Miles tells me he knows somebody. We have been doing this for 8 months constantly and now we are told we can't be on the sidewalks doing this? I will keep you posted...

I would be interested in knowing what their reason is. Is this some kind of "Lake Placid" ordinance? Is this Lake Placid PD that covers that area? If this is a LP ordinance, it would be interesting to know what government officials were involved with the development of this and what their names are? What are their special interest groups are and such. Who in the community was consulted about this?

I'll pray for you..possibly the officer just doesn't know the law?? Also, handing out tracts and speaking to people isn't soliciting.

One of the members of our church who is also an attorney met with the chief of police this morning. He has not called me to tell me how the conversation went. We live in a town where only about 4000 full time residents live but hundreds of thousands of visitors come here each year (Olympic town). So, most people know me and have heard of this "Jesus thing" that I am doing now. I only say that because the Chief of Police is a reasonable guy, Christian, and may or not be influenced by the village board. I explained to the church attorney that we can't settle for anything other than FREE SPEECH, no restrictions. It is not going to be just me inthe future I am praying for laborers and I believe we will have revival... Thanks for asking MOM, I will update asap!
'til the nets are full!

Just wanted to update you guys. The town had a meeting on Monday night. They discussed a letter that our church atty had written. They had duscussed from my understanding from someone that was there that they are going to make laws that prohibit us from preaching, handing out tracts, and also using the park for religous events. I sopke with my Pastor and also to Miles lewis regarding the situation. I will keep you posted.

My Pastor, church atty, and Layman, from our church (and myself) met with the village atty and the Mayor this morning. I got to share my faith, which was a real bonus...the vilage does not approve of what we are doing but cannot stop us. there is a law prohibiting the use of sighns so we can't use our easel. so, all said, We will continue to preach!
So, Bible thumper you were right, God wins!!!!!

Isnt this the place where Chester Gillette drowned his pregnant wife to be and got sent to the chair for? (See the film, A Place In The Sun, based on this incident)
If so, the precious city council's precious town has a big skeleton in its closet.
I hate street preachers, but hate city council people and politicians of all forms much worse, regardless of where they are at, so if the city council is against this, I am in the odd position of being for the street shouters..

I could well have the wrong town as this was off the top of my head. Chester Gillette (spelling, the correct spelling is the same as the razor blade company as he wa san heir to it) I am NOT certain it was there where it happened, but it was somewhere in that vicinity I am sure.

I do not understand. Why is it that the wicked has more rights than God's own people. Especially since God owns everything in heaven and on earth.

How did Satan move in? In America like he has? Satan's men are out in force. God's people had better get out in force and be counted. God is on our side. God is not on the wicked man's side. I'm I living in America or China? My goodness, sometimes it is hard to tell. I have to tell you, "I am sick of the devil running things". It almost seems like a bad dream.

Good people, God's people, should not have to live in fear of the police. All of God's people should march to Washington DC and demand that laws be past stopping the police of ever putting their wicked hands on any of God's people. We are simply following God's orders. When God saids to preach we must preach.

Meekness is not sitting around all day with a Jesus smile on one's face head tucked down oblivious to what is going on around you. Meekness is suffering for Jesus with a good attitude. We talk about these big words and don't even understand the meaning of them.Love for neighbor is fine but God comes first. Our love for Him. Besides the way things are going, no one, unbelievers alike, will be able to enjoy the freedoms that men and women has always fought for. Humility is another big word that the world loves to use. Humility is total dependence upon God.
