Went down to our favorite clubs but they were both closed. Very surprised. Drove around and found an Irish pub that had people outside. Had two new people with us who had never I don't think been part of an open air.
There really weren't a whole lot of people. I should have bought a newspaper to see where the happening places were that night, because we sure didn't find them!
Didn't address Halloween really at all in the message. Could have though. Just kept bringing out evidence of the guilt of the city before God. Even said this: Jackson, how much more evidence do I need to bring out to show you are guilty before God? Mentioned the high per capita murder rate and high high school std rate as evidences of scripture: The wages of sin is Death.
Whenever you get your group to crowd around you, it immediately draws a crowd. We started and the three non-preachers crowded around me, and nearly immediately, three people walked across the street. This is a Ray Comfort teaching. I definitely recommend the new 4 in 1 Open Air DVd even though I don't agree necessarily with everything on it. Still he draws from a wealth of experience. Too bad we don't have a big "inside" church YET that will come gather around! If you could get a First Baptist Church to have an open air downtown on a Sat, and have all of the congregation gather around the preacher, almost all of the bar traffic would immediately disappear and there would definitely be a riot or a revival.
Notice that I said YET. With God, all things are possible.
Had several good conversations with people, and the preacher never stopped, even when people make personal objections. Just switched preachers so the preaching never stopped. Learned this from www.streetpreachersfellowship.com
"Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and DROP thy word toward the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel." Ezekiel 21:2
Stood right across the street and faced the bar, and "lobbed my voice like a grenade" as Gerald Sutek teaches at www.streetpreaching.com.
It is an incredible site to see a Grim Reaper costumed person sober and dead silent, sucking in every word of the everlasting gospel! He even walked across the street and just listened. Didnt' have much heckling. One young lady kept justifying herself, but I think most knew they were guilty.
Gave the gospel as well, but still stuck to the John Wesley principle: 90% law and 10% grace.
Challenged them to smash their beers on the ground, but nobody did. Still I knew that the word of God "dropped".
