Being Rebuked by "Christians"
Saturday Nov. 5th, 2005
I arrived in Sundance Square and started preaching against sin, standing on a flower pot. Two men came over and started mocking and scoffing. After dialoging with them I discovered they were out here to find women to take home. "Women, be careful. These guys here are dangerous. These guys are no good." Some women walking by started cheering and hugging on these guys which they had never met before. "Your enjoying the pleasure of sin for a season now, but it won't be pleasurable in hell. Your burning with lust now, but you'll be burning in the flames in the next."
Shortly after this a woman came over and started heckling my "method". She professed to be a Christian and said, "but I'm going to get drunk tonight. Am I going to hell?" I said, "Yes. You're a hypocrite." She asked where I went to Church. I explained I'm still looking for one. She said, "But I want to go to your church" in a mocking way. I responded back, "It's not going to Church you should be worried about as much as the fact that your going to hell. You need to come to Christ before coming to Church."
After I continued preaching against sin, primarily drunkenness and fornication, another professing Christian came over named Chase. Chase said the way to reach people is friendship, not preaching the Word. But Christ did not say, "Go into all the world and make a bunch of friends".
A regular came around, Jason, who apparently has been a drunkard for quite some time. I don't believe I have ever seen him sober. But he claims scriptures and promises as if he was a Christian. "Jason, you need to put down the bottle, and pick up the bible." Chase and his friends came over and started talking to Jason; no doubt saying something along the lines of "God loves you."
I explained how if we do not preach repentance, but preach merely the love of God, we can strengthen the hands sinners have on their sin. Chase started yelling at me, which ended up getting a big crowd of maybe 25 people. Sure enough, the crowd started applauding Chase and yelling at me.
We continued to preach the whole night, and were able to reach a great deal with the gospel. They all made a decision that night, but many of them made the decision to reject Christ.
