I'm not quite sure what they achieved.
There seemed to be a lot of red flags, hand raising, singing and swaying. I didn't hear the gospel preached.
Likewise why didn't Mr Luce present the gospel. What a missed opportunity. I think he was no better than Joel Osteen who doesn't even know what the gospel is.
I think Ray Comfort/Kirk Cameron would certainly have used this golden opportunity.
Sorry but I have great reservations regarding the Battlecry movement. This is not Holy Ghost wrought changes in the hearts of the young but music/emotional peer pressure change.
It is commendable that they are promoting Judeo-Christian ethics and standards but that is not going to change the world.
It's the unadulterated gospel that we on this board preach that the world needs to hear and not red flag waving.

Do you think that the 13-18 year old kids involved might have been inspired by the whole thing to take a bolder stand for Jesus?
I know that as a new convert, when I first was saved, I never heard anyone talk about "The Great Commission" until I was at an ATF event and Ron was speaking. That was the first time I heard a preacher talk about reaching the ends of the earth with the gospel. Missions is the heart beat of Ron Luce.
But Ron has promoted the WOTM to their summer missionaries and also had Kirk at the Dallas ATF.
Ron says that he was not prepared by the show and is a bit disapointed. He feels that if he knew what questions they were going to ask he could have had better answers. Joel Olsteen just about denied Christ on Larry King. Ron simply didn't know how to best answer a few questions. They are two totally seperate situations.

Well, the woman sure got slaughtered by the host. Ron could have done better but praise God for what he is doing.

Ok, both of you have made very fair points.
It's just that I am always very suspicious of any group that I see using way out 'Christian' rock music to attract youth.
Bad experience with Hillsong.

praise God for what he is doing. What exactly is Luce doing? Is he telling these kids to repent of sin? Is he telling them that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Is he telling them to come out from among the sin of this world and be separate, and touch not the unclean thing, so that they can be children of God? Is he telling them that the real love of God is to keep His commandments, and those commandments are not burdensome? That if you really love God, it is not a big deal to obey Him? If he is not, maybe he will spring it on them later, after the sinner's prayer and the discipleship course? The reason for the sarcasm is because I am sick of the watered-down and ineffective methods of man used to reach these kids. It would seem that these days kids would say "How much can we be like the world, and still be a christian?" And adults just let them go deeper and deeper into compromise and selfishness, creating a generation of gospel-hardened rebels bent on getting their needs met. Why not just tell them the truth, and let them decide between sin and Jesus...........between lust or obedience.................between hell or holiness? If this man really loves these kids, he will tell them the truth....Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand. I have found the truth to be very polarizing.....either it will bring you to conviction, repentance, and salvation........or it will turn you off, and you will turn on to more sin, sin, sin.

Yes! Yes he does. Have you ever heard him preach?

Yes! Yes he does. Have you ever heard him preach? I have not heard Ron Luce preach for a couple of years.....ever since I (thank God) stopped watching TBN. I do not doubt that he may mention repent every now and then, or that he addresses some sins, but; Does he preach complete repentance from all sin, and total trust and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ, and holy, biblically obedient living.....complete detachment from the things of this world......is he targeting sexual sin like fornication, porn, and the big m, lust of the heart, etc? You know, the sins kids are bound to? I would love to hear some of his recent stuff. Any links, Jesse?

I don't have any links.
But his whole battlecry campaign targets: sinful music, porn, abortion, homosexuality, etc etc. Which is while the world is making such a big fuss about his preaching.
He was talking about porn I think when he said, "it's not just for young perverts, but for old ones too!"
And he tells the kids, "it's not coming down here and saying some little prayer. But it's about getting real with God. It's about serving Him and obeying Him all your life."
When I talked to him and he asked me what the Lord has been putting on my heart, I told him "Holiness." He said, "Well, if you are going to preach holiness be ready for people to start calling you legalistic." Which he was saying from experience.

To be honest I don't know much about him or his ministry. However, after watching the video and other videos on his website I don't think much preaching on holiness and separtion from the world is done.
The way some of the young people dress and the so called 'christian' concerts are blaphemous.

But his whole battlecry campaign targets: sinful music,
Sorry Jesse but I have to disagree with you there.
The video clips of long haired yobos playing 'Christian' rock IS SINFUL MUSIC.
I just read in the local paper that a study in Australia has shown that youth who listen to rock, hip hop and rap music are more likely to commit fornication than those who don't listen to such demonic material.
So much for those who say that music is neutral and as long as the musician is a 'Christian' and the lyrics are 'Christian' then it's OK.
Nope it's not OK. So called 'Christian' rock promotes imodesty and worldly behaviour. I have unfortunately seen this with my very own eyes at Hillsong and other Charismatic gatherings that claim to be Christian churches.
It's all worldliness, entertainment and no or very little Bible preaching or true worship.
AV 1611 has attended several Independant Baptist churches in Mississipi and South Carolina who worship God in Spirit and in Truth. The music is apparently southern gospel and the hymns are sung with gusto not like many Independent Baptist churches (I include my own church in this category) in the USA and Australia.
Praise God that He can still be worshipped without having to use worldy methods just like the good old fundamental Pentecostals used to do.

By sinful music I meant that he is coming hard against MTV and the sin glorifying secular music.

I am glad that he comes down hard on MTV but he is not being consistent.
The music that he appears to promote is also sinful and from the devil. Just because it's called Christian does not make it God honouring.

j.mo,
You seem to know Ron... Is there any possibility to get Him on the board? I would love to hear his perspective.

He's a very busy man. It's highly unlikely that he'd ever have time for an online board.

Thought I'd ask. It was exciting to hear Him speak on the Oreilly show. He has a real heart for the youth in this country.
