The Emergent "Church"/Cult Documentary on PBS Here is a recent documentary on the emergent "church" that appeared on PBS. Here's the truth of the matter. Paul said, "If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ." God says, "If a man lies with a man the same as he lies with a woman, he has committed abomination." That's pretty clear. The emergents say, "We can't really be sure what God says about homosexuality." Are they trying to please God by declaring what he says or lying by saying we're not clear about it in order to please men. It's the latter, hence, as Paul says, they aren't servants of Christ. That's a great idea! There were other aspects that were interesting also! It was a blessing to watch! Thanks for posting, Matt

Yes I'll admit the Emergent Church has some great ideas as to whether they are new or not that is relative to each individual Christian. But the Biggest problem I see with the Emergent Church is this Pragmatism that states the end justifies the means. It is merely another paved road for the Beasts ecumenical movement of a one world religion. What I mean is that it is breaking down barriers that should stay in place in order to produce unity neglecting the Gospel of Christ.

In Christ Matt I'd somewhat agree with that analysis... the majority of the Emergent Movement is quite watered down; much of it cannot be called Biblical at all (in relation to it's teachings).

Much of the Emergent Church movement is very postmodern, humanistic and experientially/emotionally based. Many leaders of this 'movement' hold to some very dubious doctrine, and profess doubting the scriptures. Nothing wrong with couches and candles or coffee at church at all, but when it gets down to the starting point and where they're trying to go - it can ve vastly different than the Word of God.
Like that letter stated from Calvary Chapel on the Emergent Church movement (it was posted somewhere here) "There are some that say the Emergent Church has some good points. So does a porcupine, and you're best to stay clear."

Is the seeker sensitive, emergent & modern church biblical? With so much talk about seeker/emergent/modern churches what is the real question? Is it what your pastor says the church should be or what mine says? Or is it about what God says His church is... www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn_AeINu22YIn Christ Matt

My experience with the Emergent mindset is that they place so much emphasis on "the journey", but they forget the importance of reaching "the destination."
