Poll on sin, hell, judgment:
Why don't preachers give sermons on the harder truths of God's Word?
Well in this nation I can only speak from discernment by God's Spirit and the Word. I believe that the intentions of most spiritual leaders in the Church are not evil but mis-guided. There is a big emphasis put on Church growth and numbers now days with the mega Church movement.
The message in order to reach the masses has slowly been watered down to the "love" Gospel only message. Grace grace and more grace. The message is off balanced and one sided and when you water down God's Word you have watered down Christians. Lukewarm. Compromising with sin and judgment with a very erroneous message and mis-interpretation of "judge not".
When we give out this message it causes the Church not to discern sin in the midst of the congregation or an unwillingness to discern because we "judge not".
Of course Paul rebuked the Corinthians for not judging a sinning man in their midst and rebuked them for glorying in their grace towards him who kept on sinning.
They were told that we must be able to judge sin in the Church. Because even we saints will judge the angels.
So back to my original thoughts which are these----
(1Co 2:4) And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
Leaders have become afraid of causing offense and wanting man's approval. They have tried to entice believers with their own wisdom and not that of God.
There is also a true lack of a real manifestation of the Holy Spirit that comes with the power. The power to change lives. This comes from repentance, brokenness, humility and contrition before a Holy God.
If all that is being preached is love love love than how will they know that grace starts with a fear of God? A fear that has understanding that He is also a God of judgment, wrath and the power to send you to eternal death and hell?
Too many spiritual leaders have tried to do it in their own way and not God's ways. They have left sound doctrine to tickle ears for the sake of building denomination.
Are we not to build God's Kingdom?
(Pro 14:12) There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
By compromising and watering down God's Word, they are putting into danger many with eternal hell. They are leading many astray with the love only message.
(Pro 9:10) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
God is loving but also fearful and awesome.
(Heb 10:31) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
We are to fear God who is able to destroy both body and soul but not to fear man who can only destroy the body.
(Mat 10:28) And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
There will be an accounting one day before the Lord of all creation. A teacher will be held to a higher accountability. So ought not we to fear God rather than man?
I leave you with these Scriptures:
(2Ti 4:1) I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
(2Ti 4:2) Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
(2Ti 4:3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
(2Ti 4:4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
(2Ti 4:5) But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

PRAISE JESUS!
I saved a soul yesterday. I'm 22 and I've already saved 16 people. I bet none of you can beat that.

Shouldn't it be praising to God that HE saves souls, and not ourselves? We can't do anything expect present the message.

But what does God's Word say?
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30
So winning souls is a very Biblical term. Yes the gospel is the power of salvation to all who believe, but God uses the foolishness of preaching (that makes us fools for God I guess), but wise fools! Think about that for awhile.
And even though we should be compelled by love for the Lord and the lost to preach the gospel, God also says this about soul winners.
And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmaments; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars froever and ever. Daniel 12:3
Wow! He changes us by giving us a new heart and living in us, and when we do as He asks us, He planned to do that to us. Amazing!
Many can claim converts, or those who prayed a prayer with them. I have been a Christian since March 2001, and have been blessed to pray with over a thousand people to receive Jesus in these 5.5 years, most one 2 one or very small groups; but, I don't know how many really turned to righteousness and remained with Him (Jesus is our righteousness).
So I pray that they grew in grace, but won't know until I get to heaven.

remember 22 years old not 22 in the LORD.
foxriver, give glory to GOD for HIS ability to use you. For you are only a willing vessel. If it becomes more than that, you yourself end up getting glory and that is not what salvation for the lost is about. Continue doing the work in the kingdom, but be careful to always give GOD the credit.
