Well, last night (3/17) was a crazy one to say the least. Rod and I went and visited a small Church tonight to speak to them about Evangelism. We had a great time of fellowship and got a chance to speak to the Church for a little bit. The Pastor said that he is going to have us come back for a seminar soon. We started our 30 min drive home and about 5 min into it we saw this good size crowd of people with signs and tons...let me say that again TONS of police officers. We stopped to see what was going on and realized these people were protesting the death penalty. I guess someone was getting the death penalty tonight. I felt the Holy Spirit prompt me to go preach to these people about THEIR death penalty. The fact that they will die and stand before a Just God who will ask them to give an account of every thought, word and deed. Rod and I got there and made sure we had permission with the police and we did. They had no problem whatsoever with us speaking to them. We got up to the crowd and I began to speak to them. I was vehemently opposed right away by "christians"! They didn't want me to say anything! They thought I was coming against their protest and started quoting the 6th commandment and Romans 13! We got discouraged and didn't really know what to do because they started singing Amazing Grace and everything so we couldn't be heard. We decided to go home, but I felt uneasy about the whole situation on the way home. By the time I got home, I was under so much conviction that I HAD TO go back. I got my jacket (it was a little cold) and started my way back. The devil didn't not want me to speak to those people! Besides what had already happened, listen to what else happened: On the way their, I was on a major highway (I-40) and I looked up to see a car coming right at me! They were on the wrong side of the road coming right at me! I don't know how I missed them! I was so close that I think I saw the guys face! I swerved into the right lane and almost hit the lady in that lane and then I swerved back. Then my tire popped! I pulled over and the lady I almost hit pulled over as well. I hate changing tires and felt like just calling AAA to come change it for me, but I still felt an urgency to preach to these people who didn't want to hear my message. It took me about 30 min to change my tire, but I didn't. I got going again and I almost ran out of gas. I made it to a station, got $10 in the tank and headed towards the protest. I got there and PRAISE GOD there was still a crowd. I parked and asked the police for permission again, which they granted. I preached for about 8 min or so and then left. On the way out two guys who were protesting told the police that I should be arrested! They didn't like the fact that I was preaching to them. I told them that I had permission from all the cops and that I was just excercising my freedom of religion and speech, just like them. Isn't it amazing how some people only like the freedom the speech when they are the ones excercising it? Pray for those who heard, there were many listening very intently as I pleaded with them. Plus, there were at least 30 cops within close sound of my voice. Even though I directed the preaching toward the crowd, they heard and many were listening. God Bless....
