Interesting. I was just getting ready to read the Barnes book on Atonment. Micah, do you have the 1860 one or the 1980 one? I wonder if there is a difference. I found the 1860 for around $35 plus shippping, but will get the newer one for it will be in better shape and much cheaper (around $5 plus shipping).

These guys like Finney, N.W. Taylor, and Barnes are not fluffy, easy to read writers. You have to really take your time, think, and pay close attention. Sometimes you need to read certain parts over and over again. It takes a lot of persistance and determination as you begin reading but it gets easier as you get familiar with their writing styles and terminology.
By the way Barnes is a moral government theology guy like Finney.

Yes, Albert Barnes was moral government. His book on the atonement is a classic. I'm glad it was the first book Ravenhill recommended!

It may kind of put all those who love Ravenhill but against moral government theology in somewhat of a predicament.

as well as all those conditional security people and Arminians - since Ravenhill not only wrote contrary to both, but also recommened some reformed authors on that list as well. I find that interesting....
