I would like some prayer for the ministering we do on the street here. I have been running into more and more opposition. It was just people, but now the police seem to be coming down on us. Last weekend they warned us about being to loud when preaching, this weekend it was another warning even though I think I was much quieter than last weekend. He said I could not speak above a normal tone. I need to look this up but I think the police officer was just making it up. What he threatened me with was disorderly conduct.
I know the law here says that you can use an amp but it cannot be heard more than 50 feet. He was saying I can't be heard more than what is about 10 feet without an amp! Something is not right here... I of course will not stop preaching. First I am going to check out the laws and go from there...

Josh,
He is wrong. Officers tell you parts of laws that apply to other areas to get you to stop. If you e-mail me I will give you the phone number of a guy who has won many court cases on issues like this. He knows the laws very well and would love to help you. I talk to him every time I have a question or problem and have learned a lot.

I went to the station today. The officer I talked to was very nice. He said that there is no way they can prohibit my preaching like that. He even made me a copy of the laws- or actually lack of laws. There is not any ordinances pertaining to public speaking without amplification. You cannot use an amp, but without one there isn't a problem.
I wish I had the name and badge ID of the officer that made the bogus warning. I will be going out this weekend and we will see what happens. I am hoping that since I went to the station and talked to a Lt. that it will make its way down to the officers that partrol down there.
Thanks for the prayers.
