I'd like to request prayer for my lawsuit which will be this Thursday and Friday.
Nate Kellum is flying in from Memphis, TN. Nate is my lawyer with the Alliance Defense Fund.
I will be meeting with Nate and another lawyer tommorow before court. I believe there is a local ADF lawyer who will be helping Nate.
My lawsuit is against the City of New Haven and the Police Department. One evening while preaching I was threatened with arrest four seperate times, by four different police officers, in four different locations. I was told, "If you preach you will be arrested".
Thursday is the police depositions and then Friday is my deposition.
Just to make it clear. I am not the one on trial this time, the police are.
Pray that the Lord will give supernatural wisdom to my lawyers and that He will confound the councel of the wicked.
Pray that tommorow and Friday be great days for America!

oh oh, I'll pray for the police!! Someone has to afterall. I suppose I could pray for God to confound the counsel of the wicked--yours. Except that would be like praying for a football team (which is selfish and arbitrary) and would indicate that I have no confidence in the legal system. What exactly would "supernatural wisdom" include? Like understanding quantum physics, perhaps. Or is that natural? Perhaps you would just be satisfied with legal wisdom?

Thanks for your prayers. Today went very well. My lawyers were able to ask the cops good questions and were able to get good information.
Tommorow the defending lawyers will be asking me questions. Pray for that.
Then court, if it is not settled before then, will be possibly in the fall, though it's uncertain.

Today went excellent. I answered all the questions to the best of my ability. I felt I was getting hammered by questions requesting specific details, details, details. But over all it was excellent. My lawyer said that it was the best deposition he's ever seen an open air preacher give. That's because during a deposition you should only answer the questions asked in a short, precise manner. But preachers of coarse are used to talking very long.
Overall, after the police depositions and my depositions, our case has only been strengthened. We felt good about it from the start. We feel even better about it now.

I'm going to pray for you Jesse. I'll give you a quick testimony. I grew up Lutheran. At the age of 13-14 I got saved at an Assembly of God Church while visiting. I did never grow in my faith, due largely to continuing to attend the Lutheran Church that I was being raised in. I have had many life experiences. However about 6 years ago I hit rock bottom and I was invited to a Fundamental Baptist Church, that I have since joined. Since then I've grown farther than I ever thought I would. Everything in my life has changed. I work for the state system of higher education as a campus police officer. I've taken an interest in first amendment issues and street preaching. I have a very good grasp of the issues you all face. Especially on college campuses. I would like to, some day, start a Bible believing police officers association. However I'm not quite at that point yet. I prayed that the Lord would use me in a mighty way.

papc,
Great to have another Fundamental Baptist on this board.
We seem to be in short supply.
Let's show our Pentecostal brothers and sisters that we too can preach OA in the demonstration of the Holy Ghost without having to confirm our message with signs and wonders.
Welcome.

You see Biblethumper,
Born again Christians can grow and serve our God in Fundamental Baptist Churches without having to speak in unknown tongues or believe in sign gifts.
Jesse, Forgot to say I'm praying for you as well.

Doc H,
How about let's preach to obey God, glorify Him and win souls and not to prove something to one another?

Doc H, How about let's preach to obey God, glorify Him and win souls and not to prove something to one another? I agree. But it does seem that some on this message board have a big problem with those of us who are KJO, believe in once saved always saved and are cessationists. I am simply contending for the faith ONCE delivered unto the Saints.

I am pretty much KJO but you obviously only believe certain parts of it.
Contending for the faith is not trying to prove something to your Pentecostal brothers and sisters.
I personally do not have a big problem with cessationists or once saved always saved. I do not agree with those people on certain doctrines and we should be able to discuss them.
I could say the same about you. You seem to have a big problem with those of us who believe in the gifts of the Spirit, and don't believe in once saved always saved.
There are probably very few on this board who I agree with on everything. I do not agree with biblethumper on many things either.

Thanks for the welcome Doc H. I post a lot an another board that is mainly "Calvinist" and we've had some really barn burning arguments. Although I do consider some there, if not most Christian. As they can point to a time and place where they accepted Christ as savior. Even though their doctrine tells them differently. One quick comment about OSAS and gifts of the Holy Spirit. I think it all comes down to dependence. Is a person depending on Christ and Him alone for salvation. Or depend on their "gifts" or being predestined. Or something other like perseverance. When I press some of my Calvinist friends...thay will admit that it is a dependence that saves. Its great to be here.
