I am back at school and I was quickly reminded of the fog of confusion that comes with being at a school full of false converts. Lis and I went to a prayer meeting yesterday and I left feeling very confused. These people were crying out to God for revival but there was a lack of a desperation for holiness and the necessity of repentance. I would not be able to tell some of the people in the meeting from non-Christians. I don't want to judge unrighteously (I do not know many of the people in the meeting) but something in me did not feel right. I am not sure if it was just my own flesh judging or if it was of the Lord. Please pray that I will have discernment, that I would be able to judge righteously, and that the Lord would cause a deep hunger for holiness in me and all the other Christians on this campus.

Charles Finney wrote often about exactly the way you described that prayer meeting. I would say you have the discernment already. The question is whether you are there to help the others, answer their prayers. Maybe your presence and prayers will show them the difference.

Liz,
we have a friend who is in a similar situation at his bible college. It can be confusing and discouraging. Not to mention lonely.
I agree with Jack - you've already displayed godly discernment. I'd only add that make sure you're prayed up when you fellowship, and stay in the Word (the antidote to Satan's tactics of confusion, discouragement and doubt). Find rest in Him, and don't forsake fellowship with like-minded believers.

So far we haven't been able to go to the meetings because they forgot to tell us where they were meeting last week and I totally forgot about it this week... I guess we will see about next week.
