My wife and I have been searching for a good church since we have moved to North Carolina. We've been to a few but have not been happy with either the message or the music, or both.
We were getting our car insured here in NC and the lady who was helping us saw that we are missionaries. She invited us to her church and so we went there today to check it out.
The church would maybe be considered a "mega" church for this area. It is very large and has lots of members.
The music was great. They have a large choir and sing the great hymns and worship songs.
The message was good as well. The Pastor said:
- the essence and root of all sin is selfishness - the motive for what we do must be love - we must confront the sin of others in love
He even quoted from one of the Early Church Fathers during his message!
I met the Pastor afterwards and told him we were knew to the area and confront sin on the university campuses. He invited me out to lunch tomorrow and so that is the plan.
The Pastor is a really nice guy, seems easy to get along with, and definitely has a Pastors heart. So I really look forward to having lunch with him tomorrow.
The Church seems like a very good one to become a part of. They are large and so they have a lot of different bible studies and ministries.
Well see. I'm excited.

It's called "Peace Church".
I've only been to one service. I'm going to have lunch with the Pastor tomorrow and plan on attending another service.

I had lunch with the Pastor today and it was great. We both enjoyed it.
We liked the same preachers: Leonard Ravenhill, Vance Havner, Wesley, Tozer, etc.
He asked where I stood on the Arminian/Calvinism issue. He too is on the Arminian side. He believes in freewill, holiness, and conditional security.
We talked about many things, apologetics and evangelism. He said that "confrontational evangelism" (as he called it) is definitely one of the ways to evangelize. He said it was the way that Paul evangelized.
He even said that he wants to come out to campus with me. Excitement was in his eyes when he asked if he could come out and join us. He knows it's confrontational and that it is debate format, and he's all for it. We are going to schedule a campus outreach together.
His Church is very missions/evangelism focused and driven. He wants me to connect with their missions Pastor and do what is needed to be added to their churches missions support. That is an answer for prayer because my wife and I have been praying for more support because of an increase in bills now that we have moved.
All in all the Pastor is a great guy and we plan on attending this church regularly when we are not traveling. And the Pastor and I plan on connecting regularly. We both enjoyed the discussion and fellowship and will probably get together once a month.
So praise God! This has all been an answer to prayer.
