Due to the recent post by the "this is stupid" man/women (we will never know as he/she chose to stay anonymous) I thought it would be good to start a thread on clearing up the miscontrued view of what it is we are actually doing here in this portion of the message board.
Mr. 'This is stupid', we are not arguing, we all have love for each other in the Spirit. The background of all our views is love, whether is shines through clearly all the time or not. We debate and dicuss, not argue. This is esential to Christian ministry as it keeps people in the word, at prayer, and humble.
The accusation that we are liberal is utterly rediculous. Im sure we follow the liberality expressed in the Word of God by giving away what we have liberally, but other than that I think we are mostly on the total opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to liberalism.
I am sure that many other people on this board share this view, that we are debating out of love for one another. We want to sort out the bones and chew on the meat and be of one mind, but we first have to sort out the bones. Debate can and is fun, edifying and strangthens the body.
If you agree say AMEN

Good post Evan, but I am of the opinion that the person posting this is not even a Christian but a mocking skeptic.

I agree in discussions (sharing beliefs) and dilegent study (coming to learn) with brethren, but "debating" is a form of closed minded argumentation. This is what we should be prayerful not to fall trap to because they sprout pride, which, as Ravenhill stated, is last to go and first to return. So as we each contribute to discussion and study, lets continue in the spirit of learning and not dictating. (I'm preaching this to myself here... even as I dictate... LOL)

To think we have arrived is dangerous grounds, as was already said 'pride is a stench to the Lord'. We should strive to reason with one another by the Holy Spirit and through the Holy Word. We do this by asking questions of one another instead of mini sermons. Don't you think?
