I'd like to pose the question, "what is the gospel?"
I have heard the saying, "We broke the Law and Jesus paid our fine." It's a great saying and it's true. However I find that for some that is the extent of their gospel proclaimation.
Do you see the one vital ingredient missing here? REPENTANCE!
It is more then we broke the Law and Jesus paid our fine. But we broke the law, we must stop breaking the law because Jesus paid our fine.
I recently watched a new, simple online video of an open air preacher who gave away money for trivia questions, went through the law with the crowd and then explained the cross. But not ONCE mentioned repentance aka turning from all sin.
That is very dangerous because you can end up giving them false comfort and peace. People believe then that Christ came to save them in their sin and not from their sin. And we know that "unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."
So what is the gospel? I sum up the gospel with this, "repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ."

That simple and then we have to maintain it by remaining in Him, obeying His commands, abstaining from sinful desires that war against our souls, etc.. Faith in Jesus alone yes, but a LIVING FAITH IN JESUS which produces fruit. We can't agree with one scripture and try to throw out the others. Amen?

Amen, Jesse!
I believe that an RC, Baptist, Atheist or anyone who comes in repentance and faith in the Gospel is accepted by God; anything less is heresy.
Good post, brother!
