Friday-
Friday was a good well-rounded night. We were able to buy some gas for a couple that was on the street looking for help. I was glad we could help them. After we came back the brothers from Missouri were had the bullhorn out. Last week we were told not to bring it out. The police said it was illegal, but the thing is that there is no law saying that. John preached with it for awhile, and then I did. While I was preaching with it a bar owner came out to me on his cell phone and asked me to leave. While he was telling me that he was on the line waiting to talk to the police. Most of the time the owner will have the courtesy to ask you to leave before they call the police, but he didn't. He told me that the people that were inside his bar (he has an outdoor bar- so really it is just inside his fence) didn't have a problem with the message, just our volume. I doubt it was just the volume, they probably didn't like the message! If all it the problem was the volume, we would just turned it down some, although we had it turned down quite a bit anyways. The owner claimed to be Christian and prayed each night. One policeman came and said asked us very nicely to put it up. We told him that the owner didn't even ask us to leave, but just called the police. Then that officer looked for the owner and started talking to him. Reading the officers body language, he seemed to think it was wrong of the owner to call us in before asking us to move- which I agree. Then 2 bicycle policeman that warned us last week showed up. They were not happy because they asked us to not bring it out again. John began asking him about what laws we were breaking and he said "disorderly conduct." What is going on is that it's not us doing anything wrong, but if we cause an atmosphere that makes people angry or disorderly- it falls upon us even if we are as calm as can be. They would blame us because we are the "cause" of it. The officer told me Saturday night plainly- if someone complains then it is illegal, if no one does we are not going to bother you. I don't know if the brothers from Missouri will bring their bullhorn out next week or not. If they do, there is a good chance they will go to jail. Be in prayer for that.
After all of that I preached for awhile, with out amplification, and one girl said "I went to Shiloh Christian School!" as she flipped me off with both hands. I responded, "I know they didn't teach you that there! Ronnie Floyd surely didn't teach you that did he?' She then started to cuss about Ronnie Floyd. For those of you who aren’t from around NW Arkansas He is a pastor of a big church that owns that school.
Saturday-
This night Clint, Lee, and myself went out. This was Lee's first time to be on the street witnessing with us. Clint and I did a whole lot of preaching. It was an odd night. There were several people, but everything was very calm and somewhat quiet. It's funny how one night can be so rowdy and the next day calm. Clint and I were talking to a couple of girls that were church goers. They said the only reason they were out there is because they heard of us coming out and wanted to see it for themselves. They were 16. We reasoned with them for awhile because they felt we were not doing things biblically. I honestly don't see how any Bible-reading person can say the open-air preaching is not biblical. It is impossible to do that reading the Bible. Most of the sermons you read in the Bible were in the open air. People assume that just because it's not common place now, that it is wrong. While we were talking to the girls, the stool was sitting there with no one on it. I'll remind you that this is Lee's first time out on the street. All of a sudden I hear someone preaching! It was Lee! His first time out he just jumped up there and started preaching when neither Clint nor I mentioned it to him or was even looking! It was great. I didn't get to hear what all he preached about because I didn't want to be rude to the girls we were talking to. Anyways, Praise God! I pray he will be able to come out with us quite a bit in the future.
