I posted a video of me preaching on another board recently. I posted it simply for the reason of showing people how unlawful cops can be. Well...people basically started critiquing my preaching. This is what was said to me about the finger pointing during my preaching:
This is how I responded to both:
Both of the original comments/"tips" seemed kind of silly to me. What do you guys think?

If you pointed your finger at said, "Jesus loves you" nobody would get angry.
I think you are right. It's the message that they are really angry and bothered at.
All the good old preachers were finger pointers.
I can't image Stephen preaching "You stiff necked and uncircumcized in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit, as your fathers did, so do you" without pointing his finger.
When people bring up my "finger pointing" I always respond, "I want you to know who I'm talking to. I'm talking to you!"
But maybe we are wrong Kerrigan. Next time you preach about sin and hell, do it with your thumbs up!!

Rev,
I am a finger pointer, on the street and from the pulpit. People are offended anytime they think you are speaking directly to them, which is what I want them to think. I get invited to speak to many congregations...... once. Keep pointing them out, let conviction fall where it may.
Grace and Peace, Joe

Hey, my avatar says it all!
I think we can get carried away with the pointing at times, and even do it unconciously in the heat of the moment.
It's funny, because I regularly review hours of footage from our preaches, and the Holy Spirit recently convicted me about constantly pointing my finger during one of my segments.
I am not sugeesting that you DON'T point at all, but it can be considered excessive and incisive if used constantly.
I love holding my Bible and pointing with it as I preach.
And yes Kerrigan, people are offended by the content of your message, I am sure. If you preach like Jesus and the prophets preached, expect the same results that they produced.
Matthew 5:10-12 says
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Keep plowing, Brother!
