Friday-
Wow! There were A LOT of people out this night due to the college game Saturday. It was really a mad house. We did a whole lot of preaching. This night's report it short, because we didn't get a whole lot of one-2-one that stand out in my mind. It seems like so much happens on one night of witnessing, yet when I sit down to write about it nothing comes to mind. Sorry guys.. I did run into a reporter that wanted to interview me for the campus paper.
Saturday-
While the football game was going on there wasn't many people out. Most of the people were either at the game or they were in the bars watching it. When the game was towards the end lots of people began to pour down the street. While Brother Lee and I were waiting for the game to get out, Lee talked to a drunk man that confronted us for awhile. The man left, but he came back. He walked up to Lee and grabbed his sign and flung it a looong ways! We were about 4 bars down from the intersection. The sign landed on the other side of the street right by the intersection. A few guys were nice enough to go get the sign for us, so we didn't have to. Then man was angry. We were not even preaching, actually we weren't paying attention to much of anyone at the moment. We were just talking to each other. He began to yell and tell us to go home.
When the people began to stream down the road from the game I found a good spot away from the music, yet where many people were congregating to cross the street. About the last month of so we have had some mockers come out with signs and mock us. There is a group of about 5 of them and the seem to grow from time to time. Some people that we have spoke with before that don’t like us will join them. They have a large marker board that they right different messages on. Also, they will chant different things. One man in particular will just yell and mock everything I preach about. It will be such a sad day on the Great Day of Wrath and Revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ for these people that have put their time into vainly mocking the word of God. I pray that they will come to Christ. They have heard hours of preaching from us. Sometimes we will directly preach to them, other times we will just ignore them and preach to others.
One man stopped to listen for awhile. He then couldn't take it anymore and began to burst out saying things like, "I'm guilty! I'm guilty! I know I am going to hell! Why do you have to remind me!" This man was deeply troubled in his conscience. Although he was cursing and such you could see deep conviction upon him. I just stood and listened to him and when he calmed down, I was able to share the love of God with him. This man was very disturbed. Thinking about it afterwards it was quite amazing how it all happened. He didn't stand around long, but I was able to share a heavy dose of love and grace with him, and encouraged him to flee to Christ for forgiveness that he may not end up in hell.
There was also a very angry man that was in the military and told me things like, "If I don't go to heaven for what I have done for my country, then I wouldn't want to go." "I know this for a fact, I don't want to spend eternity anywhere where you are." I sadly told him that he will have nothing to worry about. If he hates the preaching of the Gospel, then he would hate heaven. It would be to holy and righteousness for a man that hates holiness and righteousness.
Over all there was much good done this night. There were several other good conversations that I had that we were able to have that I didn't mention. I am greatly humbled to see God bring conviction through our preaching, which the world calls foolishness. I was even told that I was a fool for wasting my time. I joyfully proclaimed, "I would rather be a fool for Christ than a child of the devil any day!
Sunday-
Clint and I were able to have an interview with the reporter from the Arkansas Traveler. We had a really good interview. We were able to talk about a lot of good things such as hypocrisy, judgement, and such. I really pray that the reporter does a good job and doesn't mis-quote or mis-interpret us.
