People that care more about socials issues and not enough about souls are the one that push boycotts! Some instances: A. Girls and boys are fornicating whores and whoremongers, hence the girl ends up pregnant. She isn't right with God and some people are promoting an abortion, so what to do? So boycotters and such like, write to the senators and congressman to outlaw abortions. They hold up signs once a year to show their distaste for killing babies and expect the world to be a better place. B. Sodomites are being supported and given same rights as people who are naturally sexually orientated and live within the bonds of marriage. They are given special days on the calender and at certain businesses (like disney). They have to hire them at store or the management are hateful people and will be sued. etc.... C. Salvation army isn't allowed in front of Target to beg money (mostly for people who don't work and are reaping what they sow), so now people don't shop at target for a certain time. There are many more instances but i hope by now you get my point! Ok so in response I say: A.If it is outlawed there will be ways to still get an abortion...so to prevent these fornicating girls from having one you present the saving, life changing gospel to them in hope they will receive it and not sleep around and get impregnated in the first place. ( God commanded witnessing for the fix of problems not boycotts) B.There has always been sodomites around and always will be! You buy gas from them, groceries, electronics, some of you get your hair "done" by them; they are like cockroaches in a crack house, they're all over and nothing your gonna do about it. Write away fool! Republican or democrats alike will have no help for you. Repent and believe the gospel is the one and only hope and cure! Again I say, God commanded witnessing for the fix of problems not boycotts! C. I cant stand beggars, whether they are little leaguers or Sally's red kettle, work and receive a wage!! Target, Walmart, Best Buy, etc...are there for one reason...PROFIT...they have people who figure out what will make the most money and they execute that plan!! If it includes sodomites fine, sobeit; letting beggars in front to show they are compassionate, fine sobeit; whatever the agenda that generates more profit, that is the plan! My point is a simple one: Preach the gospel to sinners and their conversion is what will change the world!! Spend as much time or more witnessing for the Lord as you do trying to clean up the world. BTW, it's not your world to cleanup, we are strangers and pilgrims passing through. This world is not my home, we are just here to do the work commanded us of the Father. I am a bit frustrated at the whole boycott thing so please have patience with me as i vent...

Get off the Forum and repent for your words against "beggars"... you know, the ones God called us to uphold if it is in our power to do so, whether they work or not, saved or lost.
You're promoting a talking gospel rather than the Preaching-Practical Gospel!

You might want to read the Bible, you may come accross something about compassion and taking care of the poor in there.

Well well well...
Preacherboy, I think the underlying message you are trying to get at, that you believe christians involve themselves too much in the socio-political arena of the modern world and ought to be focusing on matters of the soul and conversion rather than attempting to bring spiritual change through political action, is actually correct. I actually completely agree with that. I think christians would in general be much better served by not involving themselves politically in many of these ongoing debates. Your point that any politician, no matter their political persuasion, has more invested in worldly power than in spiritual health is probably dead on.
That being said, I would strongly suggest that you take a deep breath, re-read your article, and think about the way you tried to make your point and the things you said. I think your underlying thesis is a good one, but you obviously wrote the essay in a moment of frustration and anger, and some things show through in your writing that not only seem unchristian, but undermine your argument.
In particular, let's take a look at some of these statements:
"boycotts are retarded" This is not only offensive to both those who took part in the civil rights struggle and to those who have family members with mental disabilities, but it doesn't accurately convey your thesis. Try thinking of another title that would get your point across without being demeaning or rude.
"[sodomites] are like c.ockroaches in a crackhouse" While this is both incredibly colorful and evocative, it is also a straw man appeal and, no matter how unintended, sounds like a call to violence against homosexuals. We are physically disgusted by c.ockroaches, and as soon as we see them we crush them underfoot or poison them as quickly as possible. Your point that homosexuals have always been around, will always been around, and are integrated in society is completely true, but I don't think you need to resort to inflammatory imagery in order to make it.
"I can't stand beggars" (etc) Again, I think you are going off the track here. Your point is that corporations are there to make money, that they are going to do whatever is most profitable for themselves and their shareholders, and that it is foolhardy to think you are going to change that. I think you are, again, dead-on accurate with that point. However, a call against beggars is going to get your message discarded, instantly and out of hand, by any number of people christian and non-christian alike. So far as I know most christians care deeply for the poor and the unfortunate, as do many non-christians. Many christians view the care of and ministering to the poor to be a religious duty. Making your point in the way you did, again, causes an almost instinctual revulsion and agressive response to the bearer of the message.
I won't expound on the matter of whether your heart is "right with God" if you make a statement about hating beggars...it looks like lots of people are already weighing in on that. I will instead again just point out that saying that you do undermines your argument and your presentation, by making people believe you to be an untrustworthy source.
I think that if you take some time to redraft this essay several times and do some serious editing you could have something really good. Perhaps you should put it away for a week at a time between edits, just to make sure that each time you look at it with fresh eyes. Good luck

If he is saying Christians and the church ought to stay out of politics and worldly affairs and just worry about the soul, then that I could agree with, but the way he worded it./..........

Aye, the way it's worded is pretty inflammatory and anger-inducing. It's like having a pretty design on a Lite-Brite and then placing it behind some large spotlights shining directly into the eyes of the viewer. Hopefully some drafts and editting can pull the plug on those spotlights. Then again I could be wrong about his underlying message, but I hope I'm not.

Perhaps you should put it away for a week at a time between edits, just to make sure that each time you look at it with fresh eyes. Good luck Thank You for the stern yet kind rebuke, it is accepted and I apologize for the abrasive assretion of words! I have a few battles in my new life that I am still working on through the Holy Ghost...I had a rough upbringing, but that'll be for another time! Retarded: I do apologize if offensive to those with physical disabilites, that wasnt my intent. Not every boycott is stupid, I hoped that it was understood that boycotts trying to change what only the Gospel would change were such. Poor comparison, although i am much less compassionate to sodomites than others I wouldnt want them dead and in hell. As for the beggar issue, I do apologize for not veing more clear! People that are down and out in need of a kind word and a helping hand deserve the commpassion of a saint with both physical and spitiual food. I am disturbed as I see many people that get life handed to them by welfare and could care less to try and help themself. People that work hard and try to make a life for themself have little or no help from the Government when help is truly needed. People that could work but choose not to because being lazy pays better is where my indignation lies.

Glad I could offer some assistance Preacherboy I also often find myself writing something that, if I take a breath and step back from it, I realize I need to modify before I make it public. Good luck with your rewrites, I look forward to reading the final version of your essay

Wjenever I want to say something that Im not sure will or will not gete dited out, I tend to use foreign languages as an inside joke. Chiflado is a Spanish slangword meaning more or less crackbrain or idiot, BUT I could repent of using the term as applied to you, after reading your second post. Not being a Christian, that is about all I will repent for.
Issues and moods will effect what you put into print. I have had this happen to me right here on this board more than once, believe me.
So try writing this a second time and see what comes up..
