How do all you folks feel about Mitt Romney as a candidate for president? Of course I'm a liberal democrat and I probably wouldn't vote for him anyhow, but how do you all feel about the fact that he is a Mormon and about his political shifts over the last few years?

Yeah, it is not going to happen.
I really don't participate much in politics but I don't see the "religious right" (I hate that term) supporting someone who they would see as a heretic.
I read somewhere that he met with a woman pastor (Paula something) and the president of Liberty University, among some other professing Christians for some reason or another. Wonder what that's all about.

Nah, I wouldn't vote for him...
I'd vote for the pro-life candidate...what's his name?

The name of the Pro-Life candidate? How about every republican candidate, since every one of them depends on mobilizing the religious community to win a national election. But who knows how much of it is belief they will act on, versus belief they will not act on, versus straight up pandering.
I hate to think of myself as prejudiced, but I think I'd have trouble voting for a Mormon candidate no matter what his avowed stances on issues. I find it a bit creepy...not as creepy as Scientology, but I guess I don't think of them in completely dissimilar terms either.

The country is widely secular at this point in time. A religious nut of any kind is not going to make it. The religious right is BEING over run by people who don't want a theocracy. We live in a NATION of ideas and only the best ones make it.
On another note the Anti-christ is suppose to behave like christ and than show his true colors. This is why I would never vote for a religious nut, mormon, F Christian or otherwise.
I was more worried about al gore running mate because of his strong ties to the jewish faith. Had we vote him in we probably would have had more trouble in the middle east than we do now.
I Still voted for him because I didn't want an x drunk in the white house. Guess i lost that bet.

Does anyone know about Obama's supposedly 'mainstream' views (I'm too lazy to look them up myself ? I also heard that he takes his religion seriously. (hmmm...and Clinton proclaimed to be a Pentecostal)

I like Tom Tancredo's statement against abortion. Did you hear that a fellow pol who is a muslim called the cops on Tancredo because he was smoking a cigar? That's right. Their offices are right next to each other, and rather than poking his head in and saying something like, "Hey! Your cigar stinks!", the muslim calls the police. And it's legal for them to smoke in their own offices. It was on Fox & Friends this morning. Brian something or other is the name of the muslim (he was sworn in using Thomas Jefferson's quran)

It sounds like he made a regretable decision to go and call the police rather than trying to go over and solve things in a more neighborly and adult manner. Is there a connection in the story to the fact that he is Muslim, or were you just adding that as a reference since you didn't remember his name?

Ah, thanks for the info sir. Shouldn't it be Pro-life and Anti-life? Are there any Pro-life Democratic candidates? Pro-Life and Anti-Life? Heh, you take your terminology and I'll take mine. We all know which groups we're talking about either way though I'm not sure about Pro-Life/Anti-Choice democrats...I suspect there probably are some, but if so they are longshots at best. I think it would be almost impossible for a democrat to win the primary holding anti-abortion views as part of his platform.

Is that a church you all consider to be a good one? I bet you're all better at reading between the lines of a mission statement and parsing the about us/doctrinal statements than I am

Is that a church you all consider to be a good one? I bet you're all better at reading between the lines of a mission statement and parsing the about us/doctrinal statements than I am After going thru the site, I can see some things not consistant with biblical Christianity. Offering Yoga, for instance. Adopting the Black Value System, when God's value system pretty much should set the standard for any believer. I guess I discovered that we all have a common ancestory, and while there are nations and people groups, "race" (other than the human race) is artificial, and desparately divisive. I'm not too articulate about such matters (and I'm sure someone will find occasion to rake me over the coals for it), but shouldn't we be focusing on our redeemed state as Christians, rather than our ethnicity? I left behind my native american background when I became a new creature in Christ. It just doesn't mean a whole lot to me anymore. I fostered a lot of bitterness over historical mistreatment of 'my people', but that was washed away, too. Praise God that He's no respecter of persons.... Thanks, Eric, for posting the website. Mahatma, yeah I couldn't remember his name. What stood out was using Jefferson's quran. However, I have no problem with making distinctions using religion. I definitely won't vote for Romney because he's a Mormon. He believes in another Jesus. (awww, I can hear the tearing of garments now! ;D) I remeber his dad, tho, who was governor of Michigan for many years (I'm a former Michigander. We use our hands to show people where we were born!)

Actually, our focus shouldn't even be on our redeemed state...it should solely be on the Lord Jesus Christ, and on seeking Him first and His righteousness.
