Didn't exactly know where to post this, but I figured here was as good a place as any. My name is Benjamin Amey, and I go to Oswego State University. Miles, Eli and others were here today. Anyways, my point in writing this is as follows... Miles informed me that I was in a video on GoogleVideo today. I found this interesting since I had explicetly told someone from OAO last semester not to film or take pictures of me. I found the video at video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7006246958724279635&q=oswego+preachersI respectfully ask that this video be removed from the internet, wherever it may appear. The video is not representative of the argument as a whole, is edited to make it look like I said something I did not, shows me saying I did not want to be filmed (I still was afterwards regardless) and it has been posted on the internet without my permission. I would prefer not to have to take legal action against OAO, but I will should the video not be removed from GoogleVideo, and wherever else it may appear. I look forward to seeing Eli, Miles, and whoever else they bring with them tomorrow.

I would have to agree with osubamey on this one... Though osubamey certainly wouldn;t win any legal battle, as he himself decided to engage OAO in debate, it would be proper and a friendly gesture to simply remove the video as he made it clear he didn't want to be filmed. Just convert it to mp3, guys. Small gestures like this are an investment in souls. Why let a video cut off ties with a person who needs Christ? This is an opportunity to show love in action and friendliness. Blessings in Christ

Hey Ben, great to see you here on the boards. Nice to see you again today.
The news films events and crowds and celebrities and even myself all the time without consent. It is freedom of the press.
I didn't post this video. But maybe for your sakes Jesse could take it down.

True, the media does have freedom of the press. However, if the celebrities (or you) ask the media not to film you, then they are supposed to follow through with that request. Considering that the film has me saying "Don't film me, delete that picture of me", I have a case, especially since I was only 18 at the time it was filmed.
As Dan said, if you want to convert it to an MP3, fine. I wouldn't be ecstatic, since it was edited not as a representative as the entire conversation, but I would be happier than having my image up on the web.
I'm sure you wouldn't want someone taping you and then editing it to make it look like you worship Satan, would you?

Ben, you publicly profess to believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and then you tell a TV News station that you are a church going Christian. "I believe in what they are saying, just not how they are saying it"
You being 18 doesn't mean anything.
I get filmed all the time and sometimes people do some clever editing. In fact there is one of me from Oswego that an unbeliever put together.
If you don't like being filmed then don't show up to public events.
If you ask the media not to film you that doesn't mean that they can't or shouldn't.
Images of you are on the web not only from my own camera.
The particular clip in question was chopped at an awkward spot, I agree, but I don't see any editing to make anything appear as it wasn't in reality.
If you want to see all that you really said just search for SUNY Oswego Open Air Outreach. There is unedited footage of yourself.
Now, Ben, I actually enjoyed you coming out to the open air meeting despite the vile things you said. I think when not in front of a crowd where fun can be had by all you are a likeable guy. Actually, you are kind of a likeable guy even in front of the crowd. I like the way you said things, just not what you said. Ben, I don't come out to these campuses just for my health. I come out there for you. I know you probably don't see it now, but you along with many people your and my age and caught up in a lot of foolishness. I don't know if you are embarrassed by what have said on campus now, but I am sure one day you will look back in shame and realize what is important in this life. What matters at the end of the day, when school is over, when the preachers go home, when the message board crashes, when nobody really remembers too much of the Flying Spaghetti Monster or won last years championship game, is Jesus Christ and did you obey him.
"What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and yet lose his own soul?"

1. Quotes and facts. First (Eli said the same thing you did), I never said I was a Chruch-going Christian. I know that would make me a hypocrite. I'm agnostic, and I've never said anything different. I said I still go to chuch, even though I'm not a Christian (to which Eli then said I was a hypocrite... which I didn't understand. You don't want non-believers to go to church?) And the quote was "I don't have a problem with what they are doing, just how they are doing it." I've seen the tape. It was for my friend's video editing class.
2. My being 18 means everything. Borderline minor.
3. You can ask him to take it off of the internet then, especially if it is not a representative of what you were actually saying. As for the public event, at college, even at public events, there is an expectation of privacy. Filming for security purposes is fine, but stuff like that starts walking a fine line of invasion of privacy.
4. Asking the media not to film you certainly means that they shouldn't. I'm a Broadcasting/Mass Communications major and I'm also in the Pre-Law program. If there is evidence that I asked you not to film me, which there certainly is, then issues arrise.
5. That "awkward spot" you're referring to is the end, I'm assuming. That's not just awkward, it makes it look like I'm admitting something that I wasn't. I will search for said unedited footage though. The unedited footage I doubt I will have a problem with having up, despite my requests not to be filmed.
Now, I don't think you're a bad guy either, Miles. Trust me, you're not nearly as bad as even some other guys who come to Oswego (who say blacks or anyone who talks to blacks are going to hell) or a guy I've heard about online (his name is Micah Armstrong, works mainly in the South... you can read up more about him on the Facebook group "...So Apperantly I'm Going To Hell".) I have some problems with the things you say, but not a problem with going out and preaching the gospel. As I said, I used to be a Christian. As I've examined my faith and other religions as well, I have come to be agnostic.
I know a lot of the things I do are foolish, but I believe in living with absolutly no regrets. So that bicycle thing, no regrets. It was fun, good for some laughs, got me misquoted in the school paper (which will lead to a letter to the editor, oh and you guys made front page, I can save you a copy if you want) and got me my first ride on a Campus Cruiser (the bike). I know this will pain most everyone here to say this, but, I think Jesus was a great guy and had lots of good stuff to say, but I don't believe that humans have any possibility of knowing whether the Christian God is the correct god, or if it's Shiva, or if it's Thor, or if it's the FSM. And just having a book that says that it's so isn't enough proof for me, sorry.

I would like you to save me a copy of the campus paper actually. I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you. I should be up at Oswego before school is over, though not to preach. About taking the clip off, Jesse would have to do that, I didn't put that clip up. I know Jesse is pretty busy and he may not have seen this thread. You plan on going to Oz again in the Fall, Ben? Blessings, Miles

Well, I have three, so it shouldn't be a problem. Just let me know here or on Facebook when you are comming back up, and I'll make sure to get it to you.
As for me being at Oz in the fall, yes, I will be there. I'm planning on spending all four years there to get my BA in Broadcasting/Mass Communications with a Minor in Theatre, and then we'll see what happens from there. I might stay at Oz for a Masters, or I might head someplace else, possibly for Law or Political Science. We will see where things take me.
