After recently hearing about all the hype surrounding this 'Purpose Driven Life' book, I decided to find out a bit about the man behind the 24 million books that have been sold - Rick Warren. To be honest, being a skeptic about most 'new' ideas for life and church, I wasn't surprised with what I found. I don't know what stage this 'fad' is in America, but only recently is it really beginning to take hold on alot of the churches here in Northern Ireland, that's why I did the article. Check it out if you're interested - www.biblicalwitness.co.uk/rickwarren

Blahhhh! Todd Friel used to have some good stuff about the book. I don't know if ttwministries.com still has the stuff archived though.

It is straight up garbage...I went through that junk with two churches and hated it the whole way. That sad thing is that most "christians" who went through it thought it was deep stuff..

I knew it was garbage just from the lives and doctrine of the people I see that think it is great. I would like to learn more about it so I can know exactly what he is about. Sort of like Joel Osteen. I heard so much trash and heard rumors about what he did on Larry King so I went and read the transcript for myself.
To answer your question Armen, it is also a big deal over here in America. The Assembly of God church I have been attending thinks its great stuff. ):

Rick Warren says, "I believe that one of the major church issues [of the future] will be how we’re going to reach the next generation with our music."
This guy's unbelievable! Is he saved? He's concerned with music and preaching the unoffensive gospel, rather than preaching that people need to repent or else be cast into hell. How sad.

I do wonder at times, are such men truely converted? Can it be possible?

Rick Warren seems to be more of a men-pleaser, rather than a God-pleaser. Preaching a watered-down gospel creates watered-down (carnal Christians, if there's such a thing) Christians. No wonder the church of Jesus Christ is in the mess that it's in (from what I've seen and come across). It's because we have preachers like that who blend in, in today's culture and don't preach the gospel like it should be preached. Holiness and the fear of the Lord is no longer preached.
