As we preach with different people, everyone has a part to play. Some people are very knowledgeable in certain areas. I have noticed in some of the team's posts that its seems some of you tend to specialize in certain areas (ex. Jesse-presuppositional apologetics, Miles-reading the quran, Jeff becoming well versed on dates and names in some area of apologetics).
Do you all make an effort to study these areas as they come up, do you assign these areas to each other, are you led of the Lord individually, or do you study these as a group?
I used to try to get my wife to read certain books so I could learn about certain things without having to read the book myself.
We certainly do not need to be an expert in everything to be effective but sometimes it helps to be knowledgeable in certain areas. However, it is not possible to become an expert in every area.
Just curious I guess...

Well, Scripture does tell us to "study to show ourselves approved." I know that each of us have been studying a wide range of topics - from presuppostional apologetics to the Quaran, etc. etc. Some things we happen to know more about from our own personal experience and tesitmonies.
When we were preaching at GMU in Virginia and realized there was aheavy muslim presence, all of us realized that we needed to brush up a bit on that specific religion.
We're each lead individuall AND we did study as a group when we were together.

An open air preacher, especially the campus preacher, must be well read and studied.
I have been thinking about making a recommended reading list for all Open Air Outreach preachers to read by the upcoming fall. Well see.

Yea, now it's my turn... lol
Well first off, in Surah 17:111 the Koran says that Allah has no begotton son.... JK
No, I would say we are all at different experience levels. Jesse certainly has excelled in the area of presuppositional apologetics. I am catching up though. As far as the Koran, me and Jesse both plan on having it read cover to cover, hopefully before the summer is over. I guess we all just have learned what was needed as we go. When we first started, at least myself, I realized how little I knew. There is no finality to the Christian life this side of eternity of course. I think the Lord also just gives some certain talents to use.
That's funny. I love it.
I guess our first objective is the Word of God itself, all the others seem to just fall into place.
