I was talking to my mom today and we got on the subject of open air preachers. She said that when she went to U of I in '77 there was a preacher that would come on campus named Jed. She said that he was so loud you could not help but hear him. Wherever she went she was confronted with the gospel at this school and eventually got saved. I was really excited because I think it might have been Jed Smock that preached on her campus. Was he around then?!

Jed started in the early 70s I believe. You could email him and ask him if he remembers that campus. brojed@aol.com

I guess to someone passing by, anyone preaching probably sounds loud, but Jed is not really all that loud of a preacher. His wife preaches louder than he does.

I found Jed to be quite mild mannered when I was listening to him preach in San Marcos. Very pleasing sound to listen to, he is interesting, he can really hold your attention.

They are good but are pretty mild compared to what you see on campus. They don't really show his humor, sarcasm, satire, etc. which is very helpful.
