Here's my take on the whole thing for what it's worth.I have five kids and Im 37 years old. Were all done having children, as far as I know anyway I would like to have another boy, I love the name Luke and I was just thinking it would be nice to have another boy and name him Luke Anyhow to put it frankly my husband umm pulls it out and dumps it Now I know what your going to say,"God killed so and so in the bible for doing that but that was only because he was supposed to BY LAW carry on his brothers name. The bible says in Psalms that God knew me when I was in my mother's womb not before#1 and #2 all of the millions of sperm do not make it except for that one.Now than #3 for anyone who says I am preventing a life and shouldn't do that there were eunichs in the new testament and for anyone who doesn't know what that is-- they castrated themselves. Now than #4 alot of the mostly male christians in the old and new testament did not marry because they wanted to devote themselves to God.Sound selfish??? But it's perfectly biblical and encouraged by the apostle Paul himself and I strongly encourage young people not to marry and devote their lives to God if at all possible. But it's better to marry than to burn .

I don't believe for one moment that God commands that a woman become pregnant once a year.
That's just plain ignorant

Manna/E. Wallace What's wrong with what I said How would you like me to word it---seriously??? The bible says he spilt it on the ground which automatically leads your mind to think; "Well how did he do that???" Answer: He pulled it out first right??? Which part is it that offends??? Rebecca...Have you ever heard of the Greek Word (plenekteo) meaning to defraud, or biblical unjustifiable conduct, meaning that God sees every word and deed. David , in the book of Psalms 139 :5 God knows all our inward thoughts, and motives, desires, and fears, as well as our outward habits and actions. In this case your wording may defraud someone, to deprive another of ones moral purity and chastity that (GOD DESIRES) for that person in order to satisty one's own self-centered need.. In other words, those very words may arouse a sexual desire in a person which cannot be righteously fulfilled is defrauding that person.. Check out scripture 1 Thes 4:6, and Eph 4:19, it can produce lust in another, which is a sin... The wording should not be as the world does, that produces what the world will do. Hope this has explained it a bit... E. Passing through....

In that case you wouldn't be able to read the bible.Do you know how many verses I could give you that have to do with sex??? Don't even go near proverbs or the Song of Solomon. The bible puts lots of images in your head.God made sex! It's man that perverts it!!! There's nothing wrong with what I said. What about in Hosea where Isreal commited adultry with the world and God said He would strip them naked and throw them in a desert place??? There are so many verses. We need to try and be real.In everything there is a balance.A false balance is an abomination to the Lord.

Rebecca...1 Thes 5:22.. is clear cut..That is what is wrong with the world today, Christians who say they are christians, but look and talk like the world, where is the holiness, " Be Ye seperated"? Come out of this world..and yes, the Lord's countenance doth behold the upright, that is Proverds 11:7 after Proverbs 11:1, a false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight IS HIS DELIGHT...and this has to do with cheating someone(Lev 19:35), and we are to deal with everyone honesty.. I have done that with you. There are Spiritually Battle grounds here on this boards, and battle fields, make no mistake. Men , preverting sex outside God's provision is a the sin(men/women are blinded by satan and his devices., And yes in Gen 1:26-27(where one man , one women, joined under God , both in spirit and body, mind and soul, and God expects them to consecrate all things in the earth to him and to manage it in a GOD GLORIFYING way.. Do you think it brings God Glory to talk about what your husband does? This dishonours him( your husband and God).Where is the virtue here? Do you think it will brings Glory to God to talk in a way that even an unbelievers see that Christians are no different then the world speaking the same as the world? Your time with your husband is a special time, intimancy, not to share with anyone, but in PRAY to God himself..

My husband is actually alot more open than I am.He was just the other day trying to help out this man at work because he was about to commit adultry because his wife would not have sex with him. Anyhow Im not going to post on this subject anymore because it's getting a little too overblown.

Listen, rebecca, your choice of words may not have been tasteful to some, and may appear to be something you shouldn't have worded in that manner...but it was less than sinful. Don;t listen to everyone with a Bible verse... Remember, the only words we are to speak are whole ones..however, you certainly didn't sin

prevention, by the way, is simply a worldy term for interfering with God's purposes. God already gave us natural means to "control" our childbearing, it's called the monthly cycle and self discipline. Beyond that, we have taken matters into our own hands. Like with everything else, we warp what God created as pure and turn into something of the flesh. well when you live in the world of the flesh ...

I think that it is important for there to be a control on our reproduction... even if it's frowned on from the church. Unfortunatly there is an interesting side affect from this.
Everyone who is educated and has funding is having protected sex, while the poor and uneducated continue to reproduce, causing our economy to become unbalanced. Those who cannot provide for a family, are the ones having families.
I think the 'crime' of stopping fetilization is miniscule compared to abortion. Abstinance IS the best protection, but for the love that can't be held back, then protect yourself. Truly if He is reasonable then he'd rather you prevent fertilization then to then take the life out of the womb.

PS: Actually, from reading some of the posts here.. I've got another question... what do you guys think about fertility and procreation in general? I mean... is it a "sin" if a woman chooses to never have any children, despite her taking a husband? Obviously, this is assuming that you don't consider birth control a sin... I saw someone posted something saying that if you have several kids and don't want any more children, BC is okay. But what if you never have children? Would your faith say that is wrong?

Jules, what's your take on a married couple who want to have sexual intimacy often? ? I mean OFTEN? Let's say also that they do not want children? Would you consider a condom as sinful? I would ask the question why do they not want children? Is it for selfish reasons? Is sin involved? All forms of preventing conception are wrong, that's my conviction. Married couples wanting to have sex all the time if fine of course, but it is God who opens and closes the womb, it is not something we are to mess with. I know married couples who were unable to conceive, others who never used contraception and only had two kids. Isn't reproduction something the Creator of all life can handle? Why is it we think there are certain areas of our life that God just doesn't need to be sovereign over? I personally think it is a lack of faith when Christian couples use any form of birth control. I know many will disagree, but that is between them and the Lord.

Your first statement - if I understood it the way you meant it, is incorrect. Jeremiah chapter 1 says: 4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying, 5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." He also knew and spoke of John the Baptist centuries before he was born, through prophetic word. He chose us in Christ before the foundations of the world - I'd say that was before our conceptions or births. It is clear that God's plans for us begin WAY before man and woman get together and decide to procreate. Marriage vs. celibacy (or being single as a result of devoting oneself to the Lord) is not the issue. Not believing God to be sovereign over our bodies and reproductive organs is. Our bodies are not our own, they are to be living sacrifices. Any aspect not surrendered to Him in faith, I belive the Bible is clear, is sin. Because everything that does not come from faith is sin. So, birth control is sin.

If this body ain't mine, I'd like to see the "property of God' branded into my flesh. As far as I know, it's not on my body.
And, okay, it belongs to God? Either he gave it to me (birthday present maybe?) or ... it's on loan? I never agreed or signed anything for use of this body. So, sorry, it's MINE. Show where I signed it away on the dotted line.

I agree with Jules here. Our bodies are not our own, we are TOOLS OF GOD! Our bodies are living sacrafices, "my" blood is truely God's blood and where he asks me to spill it I will. Needless to say the same goes for semen (everybody keep it in your pants , I don't want to provoke any sinful thoughts), like my blood God tells me in my heart where and when to spill it. And likewise, your blood is GOD'S blood and should be used and spilt only for HIS love. Sidenote this is also why I support the war against Islam, oh and yes it is a war against Islam and a righteous war it is. Christian blood and Hebrew blood (Jesus' blood), has been spilt and it is our moral and GODLY duty to bring these lost heathens into the fold by whatever means are necessary. Perhaps if we show the people that their god(s) and leaders are nothing more than puppets of Satan they will and can be saved! Hail Jesus!

for CHRISTIANS our bodies are to be presented as living sacrifices to God. If you are not saved, the first step is to acknowledge your sin, repent (turn from) and begin a new life in Christ. Either way though, your bodies were created by God, for God, and He can do whatever he wants, whenver He wants, because HE IS GOD. Hence, the deity thing.

Okay ... so when again did I give my body up? Still waiting for answer you never owned it, you just think you do. Just because you don't believe in something, or acknowledge something, or understand something, doesn't mean it isn't a fact. The universe does not hinge on our ability or inability to grasp it. If it did, we'd all be in trouble. We all just give ourselves way too much credit.

You have not the proof that anyone owns our bodies or that we do (which is one THE most ridiculous conversations I've ever had) Considering that, like I said, I never signed mine away, it's safe to assume that it is mine. Now, if I had joined a cult and said 'sure, use my bodt for your sacrifices' then ya, I'd admit it wasn't mine.
