Hi all....Sorry for the poll title, but I thought that might get your attention.
As evangelists, many of us discuss and debate frequently on what the best method is to capture your attention and engage in a meaningful conversation about God.
This isn't just what would make you feel good and say, "What a nice guy", but I'm wondering what methods make you stop and think.
Thanks guys and girls!!!!

Tony... are you part of the Willow Creek Church? LOL....Lakewood here I come.... ;D No, just something that I would be interested to see. I know that we have had many discussions about this on our board, and on the GNN side, but I have never heard the non-believers perspective on this.

I would say the BIBLE way is THE way. Which would include all of the above.

i think that the first and fourth choices are the ones that contradict evangelism. i would choose any of the others, because they are so similiar. however, i choose the last answer because it is only by a person's actions do you realize the fruit of the spirit...words are often times meaningless. humility through silent action. do what you do, and take no claim or reward for what you did.
go unnoticed.

The world would love it if Christians were silent.

You can't hear unless you have a preacher. And the only way a person could get saved is if they saw themselves as a sinner. Doing nice things for people is fine...but there would come a time when convicting one of sin would be necessary. In the Spirit that is...

i am not simply speaking of 'good works', but a combination of works and faith, as is mentioned in james. modern christians, fundies, do too much talking, condemning, and posting pictures of themselves [jesse] and rarely go unnoticed. we always know what is going on in 'christian land.'
believe me, we see christianity in practice without you ever having to open your mouth. people yapping off their mouths and guns for every cause righteous and self-righteous alike is what pushes people away.
christians need attention, and thats ok. i suppose... ...just don't press the world towards a self-fulfilled prophecy of armageddon and take us all to heaven/hell with you.
please.

This statement is intriguing. It begs the following questions. 1) How do you know the person doing something nice for you is a Christian if they never open their mouth and tell you they are?
Or,
2) Are you saying that Christians are the only people who do nice things?
I doubt that seriously. You seem to have an affinity for using absolutes and generalizations. Something you condemn us for doing. Hmmm, there's a word for that.

luvofchrist, i am inpressed that you used the word, 'affinity,' in your cowardly attack of my character. hehe. there is a saying, "id rather be stabbed in the face than in the back" meaning that i would much rather you have it out on me, instead of snake around what you really want to say...or what you really think of me--or anyone.
anyway, truth hurts, right? so...
people like me keep tabs on you people. this is all i meant by the 'absolutes' and 'generalizations.'
----
one: i think the explanation below will suffice. if not, we should break it down and continue the conversation later. two: no. people do nice things because they expect to be rewarded. we are strange creatures. the christian perspective is that god is always watching them. so, i imagine its not that hard to consider oneself 'righteous' when you know you are being watched, and that it is not too hard to love god when you know that hell awaits you if you disobey. 'heathens' do nice things because of much more superficial reasons...monetary rewards, recognition, etc.
i do not believe the good samaritan exists. i think there is an agenda to any action we perform.

How come "hell-fire" preaching isn't up there. When I was a drug dealer, I had Christians who befriended me, Christians who were nice to me, Christians who invited me to Church, Christians who prayed for me. But none of that reached me. The only thing that God through to me was when I was in jail and a preacher came in and told us about hell and how we deserved to go there.

They are fundamentally different, but they probably would fall into the same catagory for an unbeliever.

Regardless, of the 4 who voted, NONE of us care to listen to ANY type of preaching. We all voted for the last option.

Well, unbeliever, I hope you know that you classify this... dusty character as an unbeliever amongst you, but realize you are as low as he is. Lower than the lowest dog's droppings. You are knee deep in hell fire. Realize your mistake before it is too late!
