This is of course a bible thread, so of course, you must use the bible, seeing as how that's all you have to prove what Jesus did or didn't do.
Answer the question, is Jesus kind, and peaceful?

Ah, but can you prove it? I'd assume the Bible would be a nice place to start?

What do you mean by kind and peaceful? Do you mean by kind that he never raised his voice, never rebuked anyone, never spoke harshly to anyone, was tolerant of evil?
If that is what you mean, then no he was not.
If by kind do you mean He always willed the highest good of another then yes He was kind. Was he concerned for their well being? Yes He was.
What do you mean by peaceful? Do you mean He never raised His voice? Do you mean He never caused controversy? Do you mean He never caused division? Do you mean He never caused a riot? Do you mean He never spoke harshly to anyone?
If that is what you mean then you are wrong.
He was peaceful in the sense that He made peace with all that was at war with God. His conscience was at peace with God. He called for men to turn from their sinful warring against God and turn to the Prince of Peace Jesus Christ, and live at peace with God.
To live at peace with God usually means you have to make war on that which opposes God.

Many people try to apply a worldly standard to Jesus. If you try to apply a worldly standard of "kind" Jesus will never measure up. But if you go biblically, you'll see that He IS the standard.

What about wars, divisions, fighting?
Was he for or against that?

He was certainly against physical fighting.
I would not say He is necessarily against division. Some division is necessary and good. Christians should divide with the world on certain issues. It causes a conflict.
I would not generally say He was an advocate of war, but wars are sometimes necessary. It boils down to the reason for war. Some wars are necessary and others are just selfish. Often in a war one side is being selfish but the other side it is necessary and right for them to fight.

Now, can I throw some verses at you?
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Ah, but can you prove it? I'd assume the Bible would be a nice place to start? Sure....."For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son, for whosoever beliveth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 I think I'm pretty nice too, but I sure haven't died or honestly been willing to die for people that mocked and hated me. By the way.....You didn't ask me to prove it. You just asked a question ;D

True =D. I'm just for a kind discussion here, using the bible, on whether or not Jesus really is a nice guy or not.
You don't have to prove anything.

Amen bibleburner! Finally we agree on something! You are correct. Jesus came to bring division. That is what I have been telling you.
I can tell you from both the bible and personal experience that following Jesus will bring division. Many members of my family have totally misunderstood me and give me an all around hard time. My church has all but kicked me out for getting arrested for preaching. Getting arrested is another example.
God says if you are a friend of the world you are an enemy of God (James 4:4), but if you are a friend of God you will be hated by the world (John 15:18-20).
Does not sound like Jesus came to bring peace to me at all. Why did He and all the apostles die a martyrs's death? Have you ever read John 7:7 bibleburner?

But quick question,
Why? Christ's own family? (Sorry, I know this is off topic)
Isn't that intolerant and injust?
