OK, I just had to do it.That's right I brought up the dreaded subject.I looked all over the boards and I did not find a thread on this subject, and believe me I looked, if I missed it Im sorry.
I was reading Romans 11:22 Behold the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Now I know Paul cannot be talking to unbelievers so this is us right?
Also the bible says BEHOLD the goodness and SEVERITY of God.SEVERITY- meaning strict and serious. Are we aware that God is strict and serious? Do we understand the gravity of what this is saying? Is He serious but not really or is He serious???

According to my bible God is not one to be messed with. I haven't read Romans in awhile and I read it without any preconcieved ideas on purpose and with a spiritually open mind to whatever it was God wanted to show me.I usually practice to read my bible this way because it's the only way to really get a grasp on what God is saying. When God said he was the potter He wasn't kidding. That goes for christians and unbelievers.Yes, the bible also says "behold His goodness." Goodness because He reaches out all day long- Rom 10:21.There also comes a time that He says "enough"-behold His severity.
My pastor is one of the Godliest people I know. The power of God is always present in his meetings. He knows how to hear God.Anyone would tell you he is a man of God and he still always says, "I hope I make it." That always blows me away.

honestly, rebecca, here is how i interpret the debate.
i am agnostic, as you know, but in my study of scripture and christian doctrines i will submit to you this:
jesus was crucified once, and is sufficient to cleanse the sins of humanity, right? ...even though i am not a believer, it is easy for me to assume that a person who continuously seeks out salvation was one of two things:
one, never saved to begin with.... two, taking christ's sacrifice for granted and crucifying him over and over again.
the second is more difficult to explain in writing, although it may only appear that way to me. you may understand it in that one sentence alone, but i will explain myself anyway.
here is an example:
a person is saved. the next day he sins and asks for forgiveness. however, instead of asking for forgiveness he begs for god to save him again. in other words, he is commanding christ to die for him again. he sins again, and asks for salvation, crucifying christ again.
so, tell me rebecca, how many times did christ die....and how many times will YOU, or any christian, crucify him???

HSTN, you have stated well what the Bible teaches. Rebecca, the severity of God towards His People is proof that we ARE His People

Rebecca,
Please, for the sake of the truth, take this thread to the doctrine and theology section. There you will not get the trollish remarks from the lost souls that are waiting for hell. That is, unless they repent and trust in Jesus.

WHat? You don't like a third person perspective of your belief? Can't deal with it?

No I dont like your balsphemous remarks. You anger God and one day you will burn. You are a criminal, a monster of iniquity, and God's wrath abides on you. Turn from your rotten stinking sin and tust the saviour. He deserves your obediance and worship.

Your remarks are blasphemous to every other religion. You are sinning in every other religion. You are wrong in every other religion. What makes you right? Nothing. In fact, hinduism is the oldest religion(8000 years and counting), therefore closest to "creation", therefore the most accurate.
And if god really wants my obedience and worship that much, all he has to do is come down and ask me for it.

That is interesting, Seems how the God of the Bible CREATED the heaven and the earth.
Oh and God did come down and ask you for it, Jesus Christ said, "come unto me". But you mock Him, but God is not mocked, like I said before, your knee will bow, right before you are cast into the lake of fire.
I dont exercise fear over you to try and get you to convert. Jesus Christ deserves your service and worhip and obediance, but you dny Him of it.

HAHAHA. No.
Imagine for a second that you don't "know" that your god created the world blah blah blah.
How do you know he did, and not, hell, I dunno, Buddha.

Jesus deserves ... if God wants my praise and life to be lived like all of yours, he's gonna just have to ask nicely, for example.
God: DJ, please repent. It'd be swell. Me: Oh, well since you took the time to come all the way here and ask, I'd LOVE to!
You might laugh, but I swear to God, I'd do it in a heartbeat if if said scene played out in reality. Why? Because He actually came to me and asked!! I want HIM to tell me, not his flunkies.
p.s. I have just revealed to you my real name! *gasp!*
