I have another question for the atheists and lost souls. If you will, tell me where exactly the mind or soul comes from. And before you go off with this, let me give you something to refute.
J. P. Moreland stated, “The soul is the ego, the “I”, or the self, and it contains our consciousness. It also animates our body. That is why when the soul leaves the body, the body becomes a corpse. The soul is immaterial and distinct from the body.”
Here is the line of reasoning I would like to present. The mind, or consciousness, is totally and utterly separate from the brain, thereby casting asunder the naturalistic point of view.
The prospect of dualism, the principle that states the mind and brain, body and soul, are two very separate entities, seems to be the bane of modern Darwinism.
In other threads I have pointed out this very thing, only to find out that not a single atheist or un-believer can even come close to proving otherwise.
Let me explain.
For some time fuzzy-thinkers have tried to push forward the ludicrous idea that computers could someday become sentient (one that feels or perceives). That one day a computer could become so “smart” that it could literally become human-like. However, they face a serious problem, computers are only programmed. They don't learn, feel, think, or understand, they only know what they are told, or programmed to know.
Naturalists try and say that we are nothing more than mindless matter, or in other words, a computer. If this were true, and we are nothing more than cells, molecules, atoms, and various particles, how do we feel, think, perceive, understand, or learn? Computers have no emotions, convictions, beliefs, or rationality.
There has to be more to us then simply mindless matter. Years ago a brain scientist did an experiment on epilepsy patients, he probed certain portions of their brains and found that when he did so, he could make their heads turn, or their eyes blink, or their arms move. Invariably the patient would respond by saying, “you did that, I didn’t”. (For more information see “The Case for a Creator” by: Lee Strobel). Thus proving that the person themselves had the understanding that they were existent separate from their brain.
The brain and mind are totally separate. You can examine electrical firings within the brain, but the only way to know what that person is actually thinking is to ask them. You cannot tell what they are thinking with scientific equipment and tools. The conscious being, or the soul, is invisible. This presents two problems for you atheists and unbelievers.
1) You cannot get something from nothing.
Therefore no Darwinian theory or principle can explain where the conscious person came from. A good way to state this would be to say, “I am a soul, and I have a body”. This thwarts all attempts made by Darwin and his proselytes to disprove God because if all things happened by random processes involving dead matter, how exactly did the mind / consciousness evolve?
2) You have a soul that continues living after you die.
If this be true, and the soul indeed lives on, waiting for the resurrection of the body, then you have some heavy “soul searching” to do.
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matt. 10:28)
“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matt. 16:26)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” (Matt. 11:28,29)
