Another Q for the "Christians" ...
Why did God create everything? Why did he create animals, plants, people?
You guys make it sound like we all were created only to obey God. Why would an all-powerful being need to create people to worship it, if He wasn't that perfect??
I eagerly await responses ... ;D

cervvy, a true christian would not be here in the first place. a true christian does not argue, speak down to others, and is bound by silence and humility. a true christian, according to the bible, does not have to speak his actions, or good deeds, to the masses for people will see be able to judge him by the fruits he bears.
no 'christian' on this board has any fruit for they are the false prophets you read of...
NOTE: how many times, in real life and on this board, have you heard christians talking about what they are doing for the lord. jesse sends out newsletters for christ's sake...

The same Bible, which you obviously wouldn't touch with a barge pole, speaks about Christians encouraging each other in the faith.
Thank you Jesse for encouraging me to do more for the Lord.

doc h, you said that i wouldnt touch a bible with a pole, yet ive stated in numerous posts:
i have read the bible eleven times, and working on my twelfth. i read the bible on a regular, daily basis. i was a student at the university of alabama, up to the end of this semester, as a major in religious studies.
independently, i have studied christian theology for ten years.
i am not an atheist, but agnostic, therefore i am more openminded than most 'heathens' here.

"Christians," NOT ONE OF Y'ALLS has posted ANYTHING relevant!! Why is this question hard to answer?!? Now, you guys are really getting out of hand.....just breathe, calm down, close your traps and LISTEN UP! God created all things because He wanted to. It was for His great pleasure that all things were and are made. Case in point: Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. So, cervyy, what is your point?

Your God makes me sick. ;D Cervyy, As usual, you have formed a completely separate point apart from the original one. What does the suffering of mankind have to do with God's pleasure in creation? How do YOU make the connection? Why not explain yourself, instead of just ranting about how sick you are? I am willing to discuss it, if you like.

As you quoted ... "for thy pleasure they are and were created." So, God gest pleasure from all that we do ... even the dying, and suffering and all THAt jazz? It's not a hard connection to make ... in fact, it's pretty much RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU.
These two points go together like Peanut Butter goes with Jelly.

Well, He will do you a lot more harm than that on judgement day. If you have not repented of all sin and put complete trust and total faith in Jesus as the sacrifice for your sin, and then lived a totally sin-free and biblically obedient life, you will end up in the lake of fire and brimstone for ALL ETERNITY. How does that make you feel?

It's not a hard connection to make ... in fact, it's pretty much RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU. These two points go together like Peanut Butter goes with Jelly. This is your opinion. Does man have any say-so in this? Are you a robot or something? Which "bible" are you reading? God's word clearly states that man has chosen death and suffering by revolting against a holy, benevolent and very patient God. Please read Ezekiel 18, specifically vs. 4-9, and 29-32. God is clearly not happy with the death and suffering of mankind. Also read Ezekiel 33 for another clear explanation. II Peter 3:9 also. Death and suffering is a choice man makes. I chose to repent and live obedient to God, which is, amazingly, exactly what you complained about in your original question: Are we only created to obey?I think you are very bitter towards a very loving God, and your foolish heart is darkened, and this alienates you from the God you think you know. One question for you; How have you obeyed God today? Please be specific, and not opinionated, but state authentic Bible obedience. Waiting...............

It does appear then that God did create us to obey OR ELSE.
So you're not going to die? Really, umm, 'cause you are you know. And you do suffer too, doesn't the Bible say something around good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people?? I know it does ... just haven't a clue of WHERE in the Bible it says that.
The only thing I can say I've done for, anywhere near Biblically stated, was to out loud thank God for a miracle that has happened, or it will happen, but either way God helped solve a MAJOR issue I was having.
Of course, remember I don't agree that our Bibles are the real word of God so to me, living a life run by your Bible is the same as being an idolitor (sp) from MY perspective.
If God didn't want me to be opinionated, then He would've created me without a mind of my own, or conscienceness (sp) or free will.
If God didn't want us to suffer and die (which I too don't think he does want us too) then why did he create Adam and Eve to be able to be tempted then?? (this is now going towards what the Syllogism thread is about).

I agree with Bullhornbob, you're all acting like over-caffeinated angry yellow-jackets looking to sting anything in their path.
GOD looks to share with others His perfect holiness, His perfect beauty, His perfect love. He chose to create man in His image which does just that.
A human example is this: why do people generally choose to have children? I'm talking about sane people intending to live moral lives) To share their love with offspring, children of their own kind. People know dogs and cats make great pets but are no comparrison to children.
Now for parents that chose to have children for this reason, are they at fault when the child rebels? Are they at fault if the grown child rapes, steals or kills? Not unless the parent showed little love. It is the grown child's fault.
Consider you that grown child, you're at fault, not GOD. He's given you life and all its good pleasures... trees, wind, rain, plants, animals, oceans, sun and the universe! He's also given you insight into good and bad, your conscience. He's also been EXTREMELY patient!
Please consider yourself, life, and GOD. Know that He is GOD and you are not... know that He's died for you so that you wont have to... He's gone out of His way, being made man Himself, flesh and bone, to pay the price. Please consider this...
Blessings

If God didn't want us to suffer and die (which I too don't think he does want us too) then why did he create Adam and Eve to be able to be tempted then?? (this is now going towards what the Syllogism thread is about). Freewill without choice is not freewill. He gave them choices, He gives us choices today... and our guilt is not His fault but ours. You have plenty of worldly rights, correct? You have freedom here too but in order for you to work with the entire body of people you must stay within the rules. These rules are not placed in order that you should brake them but to keep you in order with the system in place. Driving on the road, it is in everyone's best interest for you to not go over the speed limit otherwise there might be grave concequences. Brake the speed limit law and you violate the law, but it wasn't the law's fault you broke it, it was your choice. The same goes for GOD's law. It wasn't placed before us to cause us to brake it, but to keep us in order of the system, His creation. He knows what is in our best interest and His... the law is a reflection of Him and portraits His perfect holiness and love. The entire universe is dependent on Him and when we violate the law we are going against all creation itself... Please please please consider this...

Laws are there to create order.
God's laws are there to punish us for all of eternity.
Difference is, nooone knows who willl break a government law;
God knows everyone who will break his laws, thus he created them to break them.

But when I do some things you say God says is wrong I don't have guilt, some things yes I feel guilty ... but I've done things (like get drunk) and NOT felt guilt.
Also though ... since God made us feel guilt for doing things he did NOT want us too do, how is that completely free will? It's like hitting us everytime we answer how WE want to reinforce that our "freewill" is a fascade and that we should just assimiliate ourselves into your oh-so-loving collective.
Ya ... your God is SOOO totaly like the Borg queen and you're her mindless drones ... It really does fit well..
