ABB SAID: No circular arguments.Ex.God exists because the bible says so, or , The bible is true because god says so.
DAN SAID: I wouldn't look in the Whitehouse to find the Canadian prime Minister.. I'd look in our Parliment Building....it your reasoning which is circular, running to athesitic material to "prove" atheism, which is not possible, as you believe in what your own system calls a "theory", which, as you know, is defined as "something not yet proven".

ABB says:
...
We've already gone over what a scientific theory is. How is my reasoning circular? I pull up contemporary writings from others demonstrating my beliefs?
These contemporary writings are always essays, with evidence given from each point.
So please, do tell me about my circular argument.

Is there such thing as an argument that is not circular in nature? Doesn't every person who is arguing have a presupposition that agrees with their conclusion? If it doesn't that it's not really an argument, but an open discussion, right?

dan, you said that abb runs to atheistic material to prove atheism, yet you too run to the bible to prove christianity. this is the same argument, no?

Not the same: I use essay's, facts, verifiable information.
He uses a holy book that he believes to be inspired by gawd.
Big difference.

dan, you said that abb runs to atheistic material to prove atheism, yet you too run to the bible to prove christianity. this is the same argument, no? Yes, HSTN; it is the same... The reason I pointed it out is because abb challenged Christians to a debate unfairly. He pre-ambled the "rules" with "you're not allowed to use the Bible to prove God". Unfair, as no one asked him not to use his chosen material. Wouldn't you agree?

Dan, it's not that you aren't allowed to use the bible to prove God exists. The fact is that citing the bible cannot prove that God exists. What is your point in citing the bible? Many Christians cite the bible because they intend to show that biblical prephecies came true. Unfortunately, this arguement does nothing to prove God exists. The notion that God is supposed to be super natural precludes any empirical proof of God's existence or any verification of his actions. We cannot demonstrate the bible is, in fact, divinely inspired. Biblical prophecies are notoriously vague and could be interpreted to fit almost any historical event. Even if a specific biblical prophesy came true, you run into the regression fallacy ... the fact the bible predicts something and it later comes true doesn't prove that God caused it to come true. Biblical prophecy works on the same principles used my palm readers and other sham psychics ... the bible makes a million vauge prophecies and only takes credit for the hits, not the misses.
Cite the bible all you want for all I care. It will always be an empty arguement. We can only experience God subjectively. Focus your efforts on saving heathens using their subjective experiences with you. Here's a hint ... people don't appreciate a guilt trip.

you cannot prove a metaphysical being with physical processes. this includes the bible, regardless if it was 'divinely' inspired, it was still written by men.

Dusty,
We went over this already, you mistake the nature of the debate. Look at the evolution thread.

i know you agree and disagree. welcome to the world of relativism.
note: you cannot always get what you want out of life. this includes documenting your personal faith as absolute truth to others who see different.
