This is a serious thread and all kidding is placed aside. I want to hear responses from all the preachers here and Evan if you want to jump in on this do so, as I will also get back with you on our thread after the weekend. I hope in the meantime, to see this thread filled. I want to hear answers from The Patriot, the Biblethumper and anyone else involved with the street preaching team. This includes Jesse The Moderator if he is so inclined. To show "good faith" I will not respond opr challenge your statements or answers on this thread. I cannot guarantee the same for the rest of the bad guys here, but I will live up to my word.
1. We have street preachers here and I have yet to see, at least from my observations, them provoking anything but laughter, scorn and ridicule. I have not seen one person kneel in the street to be saved. I am not saying it couldm't happen, but I have yet to see it and ask this. What is your ratio? What are the examples of people being saved by your Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God approach to preaching? Dare I suggest that for every one person you might convict, you turn off, insult, offend or lose 100. Yes, yes, Evan, this is just an opinikon, but humor me. Do you deny with your style you lose more than you win? Come on, don;t insult my intelligence here. I have watch the street preachers and seen how most people react to them. With such a ratio how can you deem your ministry a success?
2.Might I also suggest deep down inside you are not doing your preaching to uplift jesus, but yourselves. You all seem to have this persecution complex about yourselves. When people mock you, argue with you or revile you, you see it as suffering in the name of the lord like a modern day Stephen or Paul. Dare I suggest you relish this persecution to make up for your own insecurities? I have seen this attitude in the church before. "I fall short of god, no matter how hard I try, but at least I do not do this or this or this, like ths person or that person within the church." Also again, dare I suggest you preach not for the salvation of others, but for your own glorification and to supposedly earn more crowns for yourself, to subsequently cast at the feet of Jesus in heaven? You do not seem to see this, but in my view I do. You fail to realize the violent reaction to your style is indeed a reaction and not an action. You are the ones throwing stones and seem surprised when others do not willingly get hit, but throw them back at you? I do not reallys ee any love for the people you preach to or comppassion for them. I see arroigance, bigotry and selfjustification, i.e. the same sins you like to direct toward your critics and charge them with. Where is the humility? Where is the image of Christ that we are supposed to see in you/ Why would we as nonchristians, want to suddenly change our minds and be like any of you? I am missing something here.
3. In this section of the board you are facing the diehards. How many of them have swung to your way of thinking if indeed you have the right approach to preaching the gospel and have God, I assume, backing youa ll the way? Have I accepted Christ? No, and losing one round out of many to come to the Christian on the other thread is far from a victory or going to make me change my mind? Has Abb or any of his multiple personalities on this board come around to your way of thinking/ What about the guy with the letters and numbers in his name? Why hasn;'t he thrown in the towel. You wonder why we show hatred, arrogance or contempt for you/ It is simple to see. It is a reaction and not an action. It is not because we are convicted of our sins and cannot own up to it (at least speaking for myself, but dare I say the others among the heathan will agree). It is not because we envy you and the life style we see you lead . It is because your tacticsamuse us, annoy us or insult us and we respond in kind. So how do you figure your tactics are indeed the way to go, if they do not work on some of the hardest of the hardest on this board and believe me, we are mild compared to some of the others out there. There are some places where you would pull this stuff on a street and not leave alive. I can guarantee that also.
I contend your mannerisms, ministry and style does a disservice to the god you supposedly serve. Somewhere in the bible it says he that wins souls is wise, does it not? Also there is a verse stating that in professing to be wise they beczme as fools and while you all might like to throw this in my face, it could easily bounce back on you.
Lastly, how do you expect to win souls for Jesus by pissing people off?
I hope to see this thread filled with responses upon my return and maybe, just maybe, some intelligent answers or explanations rather than the tired old christian bs.
