Evangelista and I (JK) are joining another group of campus preachers throughout the fall semester as the Lord Jesus Christ leads us. The Holy Spirit spoke to us earlier this summer to meet up with these folks before the semester began, and it has been a tremendous blessing working with them.

Our first week takes us to the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Today we prayed corporately and then began our journey to the campus, arriving at about 11am. Bro. Isaiah and I dropped off the team and went to find parking, and then preaching to everyone we encountered on the way to the campus (Mark 16:15). We arrived to find Evangelista and the rest of the team in the free speech area, along with about 350 students and faculty. Being opening day, there were many activities going on. I immediately rebuked one of the young ladies distributing ice cream to students (it was close to 100 degrees today) for her immodest dress.
No preaching was taking place as of yet because of the rap music being blared on the speakers, and the crowd was taking advantage of the free food. Bro. Elijah was having productive small conversations until I lifted up my voice above the music and rebuke the “christians” for their immodest dress and worldly dancing. They eventually stopped their dancing, as I believe they were convicted. We all then took turns preaching. Evangelista began to preach and exhorted the students to repent and put faith in Jesus Christ. She preached for a few minutes and gave the preaching over to Bro. Isaiah.
I preached again later on and gathered some more hecklers. One followed me around while I preached and seemed as if he wanted to touch or assault me. He didn’t because Evangelista was capturing it all on film. Even the ones who claimed to be Christians began cursing. It’s pretty sad because the Christians, at first, say that they are Christians, then they would tell us how wrong we are for preaching against sin (yet all the while, we would show them scripture after scripture), then they would begin to curse at us once their sin was exposed, or actually, they seemed to do a good job of exposing their own sin sometimes without us having to pin-point their sin. After I finished preaching, I had some one on one dialogue with a couple of sincere students, which was very fruitful.
In my humble opinion, this was a great start to the semester, as the local ministries in this area are very supportive of the campus preaching. We were able to gather some modest crowds and hold their attention for some time. We decided to pack up at about 4:30 pm, praying on our way back to our lodgings.

Today we arrived on campus around noon. Again, we all took turns preaching, starting with Sister Deborah. Evangelista then preached for about 30-35 minutes, exhorting the people to repent and turn from all sin. Evangelista preached on 2 Tim. 3:1-5, I Cor. 6:9-10, the 10 Commandments, repentance towards God and faith towards our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Bro. Isaiah preached next, and then I had my turn. I had a lot of hecklers. One guy who heckled us yesterday flicked his cigarette on me, burning my neck. The police officer stood right there and didn’t do anything, even after I told the officer that I wanted to press charges. Normally I would ignore this, but the day before he had done it numerous times, and this time we caught him on film. There was also another young African-American student that came right in my face to oppose the preaching. I stood my ground and he eventually backed off.
One girl kept saying how she had a relationship with God, but continuously cussed at me. Another student said that one could be a sinner and saint at the same time. Yesterday, a girl actually told me that there were two kinds of people: sinners and saints that sin. What deception! I preached for a while and afterwards I continued to have good conversations with some of the students. I gave the pulpit to Bro. Elijah and he began to preach and teach the word of God very effectively. After about 45 minutes another local campus preacher arrived and began to preach to the small crowd that had formed.
We left around 3:30 pm. Another great day of preaching the gospel!

Today we arrived on campus around 11:00 am. Evangelista began to preach repentance towards God and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ. She preached for about 30 minutes. Bro. Isaiah and Bro. Elijah both took turns, and then I preached. I didn’t go for very long as my voice was a bit strained from the prior two days of preaching.
There was a young man from one of the campus ministries who approached Evangelista and thanked us for being out there and agreed with everything we said. He stated that those who listened intently were serious, but those who get mad at us are obviously convicted. Evangelista met other students from another campus ministry that also agree with what we were doing. One of them even said that it’s usually the professing christians they always have problems with, not the atheists, etc. I agree that it is usually these who oppose the message, and the reason they do so is because they are in sin and don’t want the real Christians to preach against it.
We left the campus at about 4:00 pm, concluding that we had been very effective this opening week. We were able to get the attention of a lot of the freshmen, and warned all who heard to repent or perish (Luke 13:3, 5).
