This is a very brief update from the front lines of the campuses in Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Since the beginning of this semester (8/22/07), Evangelista and I have preached at five different campuses in four different states. The following is a brief synopsis of our ministry with the Soul-Winners team:
University of Kentucky --- 8/22 through 8/24
3 days of preaching against the false doctrine of antinomianism, once-saved always-saved, and original sin. Our preaching drew moderate crowds each of the first 2 days, with lighter traffic on Friday. With much support from local ministries and a strong campus presence of Christians who agree with our preaching and doctrine, this was indeed a great place to begin our journey.
Morehead State University --- 8/28 through 8/30
After being denied access to the campus of Eastern Kentucky University because of their unlawful permit processes on 8/27, we decided to make the 1.5 hour drive to Morehead the rest of the week. This turned out to be the Lord's doing, as this is one of the most sodomite-friendly campuses in the country. We immediately had huge crowds of +200 the first day, raging against the preaching and demanding we be removed. A young man seemed moved by Evangelista's preaching, but after counting the cost of following Christ, and realizing he still loved his sin, he refused to repent under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. The local paper had a conservative article about us, and the crowds continued for the next two days, culminating in the final day of raging for the heathen. We preached unfazed by the crowds, and this campus is in need of heavy intercession and strong bible preaching.
University of Tennessee-Knoxville --- 9/4 through 9/6
A very large campus, and the free speech area is in a great place with lots of foot traffic. We had some issues with campus police at first, but after a phone call to the Student Affairs Office, we were able to preach the rest of the week with minimal interruption. Crowds were again fairly large, but the sun was very hot this week. Most of the preaching was again focused on false teachings in the "church" and the students hated our banner condemning homosexuality. A few students were very encouraged by our boldness and stance against sin, but most raged in the same way; Judge not! We're all sinners! God loves everybody! etc, etc, ad-nauseum......Again, this campus needs more preaching and intercession.
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill --- 9/10 through 9/14
This is a very popular campus, with lots of preachers visiting regularly. We found the students a bit more civil overall, although the Police did shut us down the first day. After a huge write up in the daily campus paper, we were pretty much able to preach unhindered the rest of the week, alternating between two different spots in the free speech area. It is interesting that even though a lot of preachers visit this campus on a regular basis, it is still chock-full of the same type of wicked perverts that pervade most campuses across America. We did have some positive response to our preaching, and we met a young man from Africa that seemed excited that we were there. The wife of the preaching team we are traveling with simply torched the students on the last day we were there. It was very powerful.
North Carolina State University --- 9/15
Evangelista and I supported the preaching today with intercessory prayer and holding banners/filming. The unlawful permit process requires advance notice with all types of restrictions on time, number of speakers, etc. I witnessed a very powerful presentation of the Gospel to a stubborn and proud sodomite, who refused to lay down his sin. We pray that there were some in the crowd who heard and repented.
University of South Carolina --- 9/17 through 9/21
By far, this is the most wicked campus we have preached at to date. Sodomites and lesbians galore, and lots and lots of sympathetic sodomite supporters as well. And most claim to be Christians, at that! A local Pro-Life group sponsored us this week, and obtained permits for the free speech area from Tuesday to Friday. Monday was sidewalk preaching day, and actually went very well. We were able to stir up the students almost immediately, as the biggest sodomite in the city actually walked right up to us as soon as we unloaded the RV to head to our spot to preach. All week, these students ranted and raved “get off of my BLEEPing campus, preach love-not hate, homo-sex is love-not sin,” etc, etc…We are very thankful for the few who supported us as the week progressed, and also we do not take for granted the times of intercession before, during, and after the preaching. Also, a muslim student named Ali approached me at the end of the day on Friday and told me that he supported us, and stood against the homosexual opposition. I was able to briefly witness to him about Christ being the perfect, sinless sacrifice for sin. A very strong demonic stronghold is over this campus. Please pray for the students here, as they are exceedingly wicked and sinners before the Lord. As a bonus, we were pleased to find out that a very dear friend of ours lives close to the campus, and he was able to come out and preach with us the last three days.
PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR OUTREACHES EACH WEEKDAY ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES EVERYWHERE!
Lovingly serving Christ,
JK and Evangelista
