Here are some excuses that will not work on the Day of Wrath:
- I was born this way
- Nobodies perfect
- God's law is impossible
- It's Adam's fault
- I couldn't help it
- I'm only human
- God wanted me to sin
- I didn't know better
- I was raised this way
Now let's examine each excuse:
Here are some excuses that will not work on the Day of Wrath:
- I was born this way: The Bible says God formed us in the womb, and God does not create sinners. The Bible says God made man upright, but they have thought out their own inventions.
- Nobodies perfect: The Bible says that some men are perfect, and God commands all men to be perfect. And since we have a free will, there is no excuse for disobeying God.
- God's law is impossible: God's law is that we love "with all thy", that is, with all of our ability. Therefore God's law is not impossible, since God's law is the extent of our ability.
- It's Adam's fault: Adam had us removed from the Garden, so that we are born with a fallen body, but we have a free will and originate our own sin.
- I couldn't help it: The Bible says that we can choose good or choose evil, and since we have this free choice, we can help it. We don't have to sin.
- I'm only human: "Only" human? As a human, you are made in the image of God! As a human, God made free will a part of your nature. So you are created with moral possibilities, with great potential.
- God wanted me to sin: God is holy and His will is holy. God's perfect will is that all men be perfect.
- I didn't know better: God has given light to every man, God has made a conscience a part of our nature. And so we naturally know right from wrong.
- I was raised this way: Our environment can influence us but cannot cause it. We ourselves determine our own lifestyles. We can choose to go with the culture or choose to rebel against the culture. And we are accountable for whatever choice we make.

Could you be any more condenscending, dude? Man, I wish I was you and had all the answers. This arrogant tirade makes me want to run right out and accept Christ now. Not!

To be able to confront sinners with these excuses, wouldn't your God have to be real first?

There will be no denying His existence when we have to stand before in Judgment.
Notice I said we, I too will stand before Him but I will have Jesus as my advocate but if you do not repent and turn to Jesus you will have to try to represent yourself and there is nothing you can say or do yourself to escape the guilty verdict.
Openly denouncing God and tempting His wrath is a dangerous place to be.
I pray that God will spare His wrath on you long enough for you to see the truth.

I defy you nonexistant mythological god to extend all his wrath on me, right now, tonight. lket's see if i am still here tomorrow. In fact I invite paynesean, Micaha nd all the others to invoke the wrath of god on me, right now. Nothing will happen. It is all a big myth. Your God exists only iny our minds. Can you prove otherwise? God will do nothing. You see, he doesn't exist. You might as well believe in Santa Claus or the talking trees in The Wizard of Oz.

What, no wrath of God coming down on my head? What's keeping him. I WANT to see the wrath if god.
No wrath of God for Arthur? Why not? He did it to the sodomites, to Judas, and to all those others. Why can't he smite me too?
I wamt to be smitten.
What does it take for this magic man in the sky to get mad?
You talk of God's wrath, so let him show it to me and I asked for it, so let him do a thing or two.
Thug life me into believe, Jesus. Do it.

Art,
"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.... The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:3-4, 9

Nah, I want him to smite me. Could it be he is powerless, as he may not exist?

I think in the Christian language (I speak some Christian) Jesse is trying to tell you that there will always be people like you and me, who will scoff at Christianity and that just because God does not "smite you" when you challenge him to do so does not mean he isn't there to do it, but he is like cutting you a break because he thinks you're stupid or something.

It could be that I am praying for Him not to. I pray that He gives you time to repent, and that He convicts you of your sin through the Holy Spirit.

In the 1950s there was this really lame horror film called The Skull, where this skull floats through the air and gets people. Look, if you aren't careful, man, Jesse is gonna send his skull after you.

Don't be so kind and caring. I insist God smite me. After all, all you people say is I deserve it. I want to be smote. Tell God to do his worst. Let me see it first hand. Get to smoting.

Why be so negative? Why not put out tea and cake like Cervvy did a few years ago and invite God to socialize.

Here is a statement and not an excuse on judgment day.
I do not fear it as it is not gonna happen. It is a myth.

There is no need to make an excuse as there will be no judgment before this mythical god of theirs.

I think Jesse early on showed bad judgment in his perge/ban, but he speaks great widsom here. None of these excuses will fly in the face of Jesus. Pay attention.
Evil art is wrong. He will find out if he does not repent and I pray he comes back or finds the way someplace else before it is too late.

My current specialty is a White Russian. Either way, their God just does not show no matter what you do, command Him to smite you to a peaceful invite for tea time. They say we need to ask Him in ... yet why does it fail when we do so? Gee ...

Although the above posters did not pose their replies well, I believe they have a valid point. Why does God not show himself? I would think that having an interview with him on CNN, or at least a few dinners with people would make them believe right then and there.
If God's busy with the whole overseeing the universe thing, an Angel would work just as well. A good shot of it rising into the skies posted on youtube would do wonders for the cause.
For an all powerful being, this seems very little to ask. Why not? It would be even better if he came down and laid out the rules again because there are many different interpretations of the bible and each group believes the others are going to hell. A few thousand years is a long time to wait, and the message has obviously gotten garbled. Why send someone to hell for eternity because they're a Methodist and (Surprise!) the Baptists had it right. (use any two denominations. doesn't really matter, the point is the same.)

Mel,
The real issue is not whether God has revealed himself (He certainly has), but what do men do with that revelation.
Most people choose to "hold the truth in unrighteousness" (Rom 1:18 KJV).
Why? you might ask. Because people love sin and hate God (John 3:19-20).
God is just and He will not be mocked. He has graciously given us all the revelation of Himself that we need to be saved.
If you will honestly seek Him with an open heart you will find Him. If you will repent (turn from all known sin) and believe the gospel, He will teach you, lead you, protect you, correct you and fellowship with you.
If not, He will justly find you guilty on the Day of Judgment (Rev 20:11-15) and cast you into the Lake of Fire that burns forever and ever.
You will be convinced. The only question is when.
The choice is yours.

Not answering my question and quoting scripture at me is not the most helpful thing you could have done with you post.
Seeking is not the problem here. Evidence is. I cannot say that the god of Christianity exists any more than I can say the god of Islam does. They both have their books proclaiming them the one truth, but I cannot believe in a book if another says it is the truth. Gods of the Norse, the Greek, the Indian, none show signs of their existence.
If the Muslims have it right, or any others for that matter, I am utterly screwed. Do you understand my position here? I am perfectly willing to follow any code of any god that shows himself. I wish it. As it stands, were I to die tomorrow I would have nothing in the afterlife besides the excuse, "I could not know."

Mel,
I was answering your question.
If you like, read Luke 16:19-31. In particular note the end of the discussion. The rich man wants someone to rise from the dead to miraculously reach his family. Abraham responds with "They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them." Again later "If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead".
You have your God given conscience, the evidence of creation and the Holy Scriptures that cry out loud and clear that there is a God of creation. Also, there is a God of salvation.
If reject these, you won't be persuaded if you saw that YouTube video or TV interview. You won't be persuaded, thou one rose from the dead.
Of course, One has risen from the dead.
The choice is still yours.

You're not getting this...
Unsatisfactorily then.
If you have a guy rise up from the dead in front of you, that's pretty obvious and you'd have to be majorly brain damaged not to be persuaded. Abraham is doing to that man what you are doing to me. He's refusing to show proof because the guy does not believe, when proof would make him believe. It's a trust issue with grave consequences if your trust is misplaced.
Also, nice catch-22, by the way. Can't get proof unless you believe, and if you believe you don't need it.
I have my conscience and evidence that the rest of the world exists, I'll give you that, but there are other scriptures as well, with as much proof as yours at the moment.
But I would... I'd like a personal meeting with the guy, but I understand he's busy and will take hi-res video of miracles as divine proof. Lunch with an angel would be pretty convincing as well.
Supposedly. Two thousand years ago. Unfortunately I was not around to see that. Or any of Jesus's miracles. Again, there are other Holy Scriptures from other religions floating around, saying 'This happened way back when, trust me'.
You don't follow those teachings, so obviously I'm missing something.
Aye, it is.

Mel,
You don't like the answer. I can't help that. I'm glad you notice it's the same as Abraham's though.
Basically, sinners say "show me and I'll believe". God says in a sense, "believe and I'll show you".
Thats been my experience for over 20 years. God is faithful.
Catch 22? It actually gets worse. God knows how to take "the wise in their own craftiness" (1 Cor 3:19 KJV).
If you continue to reject the truth, God will give you up to your own devices leading to a reprobate mind (one that no longer functions as intended). Things will no longer compute.
God will even send strong delusion to some that they should believe a lie because they reject His truth (see 2 Th 2:10-12).
Seeing a miracle does not usually produce repentance. You disagree, but the Bible proves otherwise. Consider that most of the Isrealites that saw the parting of the Red Sea later died in the wilderness because of unbelief.
Love of sin is the actual problem. Sinners do not want God to rule in their lives. They find excuses to not believe.
Jesus saves completly from sin, death and Hell. Repent and believe the gospel.

These responses are a bunch of crap. Unfortunately God doesn't exist so your little Day of Wrath ain't coming. Sure you could nuke the Earth into oblivion but it won't get you any closer to your sky deity.

Here are some excuses that will not work on the Day of Wrath:
- I was born this way: The Bible says God formed us in the womb, and God does not create sinners. The Bible says God made man upright, but they have thought out their own inventions. So God didn't make you into a pretentious Richard that tries to convert the living crap out of everyone? You mean you chose that of your own free will? Oh woah, God commands me to be perfect so I must be. Really? REALLY? This isn't an excuse. You're not loving so much right now if you have to prey on people's fear of death and weakness in order to get them to believe in your sky god. Woah, woah woah....does this mean you don't believe in Original Sin? No wait...you probably do. Give us a weakness that we couldn't prevent getting and make us feel awful. So if I killed a guy in self-defense, I really couldn't help it. It was either my life or theirs. Free choice in action dictates that I save my skin. God must have been pretty messed up if we were created in his image. Cancer, disease, murder, hate, anger, etc... I'm surprised God isn't on dialysis. Seriously, this again? Come on, "my imaginary friend said I have to be perfect". What is perfection in your eyes? Have you reached perfection? You know, there's murder and whatnot in the Bible. God even approves of it. Of course murder is wrong, but as long as God gives us the OK we're free to do as we wish. Hah, I'd love to see you tell that to people in jail for various crimes. A lot of the time these people grew up in very bad households and knew nothing more than what they experienced around them. You are such an ignorant fool if you really think that messing with a person during childhood ISN'T going to cause any permanent harm in the future.
