Hey everyone,
I could use some prayer for God to really guide me in what to do about my job. I'm considering quitting with no other job lined up at this point.
My employer frequently wants me to do things that cut corners and blur the moral lines with regard to intellectual property (pictures, music, graphics) in the projects I'm working on.
Today he has told me to use some unauthorized medical photos in a video project that we are producing. I'm tired of being this guy's conscience! I want to take NO PART in his deeds of darkness.
I have had many a strong spiritual conversation with him during my time here, and he has told me on many occasions that I have really changed his life and encouraged him to live more honestly and to get serious about his relationship with God, so I am often torn because it seems there has been real spiritual progress made.
Sadly though, this guy worships money. It's all over him. (Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.)
So, I am considering quitting my job with NOTHING currently lined up. I have a wife, a toddler, and a house payment. I could use your prayers for guidance. Thanks!

I know exactly how you feel, Joel. When I was trying to save money to marry LauRen I was working for a company that does fundraising for non-profit organizations. They do it in a unique way - by approaching people on the streets and soliciting funds. I felt like such an embarassing sellout. Lost people all around me. Sometimes in packed and crowded streets and what was I doing? Asking for money on behalf of some humanist organization.
I needed a way out because it was beginning to really seem like it wasn't of the Lord. Soon the Lord showed me - they were lying about how they handled credit card information. All the precautions they claimed to take to protect the information of generous people was a sham. I found out as I ended the second week on the job - I quit the next day.
In several weeks I began travelling with Jesse & Miles preaching the Gospel. God was faithful to provide everything to get us started as a family - and still is!

I am adding my "carnal advice " to this thread out of interest and because on another thread John there tried to order me not to do so, and as I said before, John, YOU are not giving me orders. I also hope YOU see this). With that in mind.....
From a spiritual standpoint I cannot tell you what to do. Likewise as a family man as while amrried, we have noc hidlren fo our own to support .. From a nonchristian perspective I can speak for people like your employer and trust me, things will not change with him. Thus you have a choice, stick with him and grin and bear it, or quit. What you might want to do is jusr start looking for another job and then leave this guy. If you can hold on until then fine, but if not, well, as the cliche goes, let your conscience be your guide. I would look to get out sooner or later and sooner might be better.
Just by what you say about the guy I can say this. If you stick with him, you compromise your values (and it is refreshing to see someone such as yourself take morality over money for a change) and int he long run, you become guilty by association. You become a part of the same shadiness you, yourself, do nto endorse.
Likewise, let's just say word gets out about this guy and his deals. How do you justify yoruself being a Christian when others ask, "How can you be a Christian and have been a part of this guy's dealings?"
Food for thought.

Recently I just gave my boss a 2 week notice concerning my job. I work as a warranty administrator and service adviser for a auto dealership. He asked me to claim some warranty work that would have been a lie. When I started I told him I would take this job but I cannot and will not lie because of my LOVE for GOD. He said he understood at the time.
After telling him this time I was giving him my 2 weeks notice because of this immoral act he wanted me to do, he apolagised and asked me to stay on because I was a good worker and he did not want to let me go. He said I did not ever have to lie and that he gave me full control of the situation and told me if he or anyone else would step their bounds in asking me to do somthing that would go against my morals, that I have the right to override them.
I told him that that was the case I would reconsider in staying and see what happens.
The other men came to me and told me afterwards that they admire me for taking a stand as that, and that they wish they too can do so.
This obedience opened up a door for me to go and sit with the service manager and his wife and preach to them the GOSPEL a day after this happened.
I say stay TRUE to your faith in CHRIST and it will work out. I don't think prayer is necessary. But I will pray for you.

Too, I did not have any prospects for another job. My boss asked me this and when I told him that I didn't he could not believe I would quit just like that not know what the future held.
