Dear brethren,
Come let us reason together:
Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
The LORD asks us to reason together, for what purpose? Are we going to impart knowledge to Him? Are we going to instruct Him in wisdom and knowledge? Are we going to educate Him why we love sin, and make wonderful excuses like Adam and Eve? Are we going to come up with some helpful suggestions on how He should rule the universe? Why are we to reason with our Creator?
Could it be we are going to reason with Him, not for His benefit but for ours? Could it be that we need to see things as He sees them and that our ideas need to be surrendered to His eternal wisdom? Could it be that sin is a blinding agent, and we are slaves of sin blinded by the enemy of God and the enemy of all righteousness? Could it be we need to reason with God so He can show us our wicked, nasty, unregenerate, cold hearted, selfish hearts, in the light of His eternal perfection? Could it be He wants to show us the steps we need to take in order to be free from the slavery and demonic control of our wicked and hateful lusts?
I believe that God wants to reason with us because sin makes people crazy, no matter how sweet and loving they may appear to other men. A sinner by definition is a person that is viewed as insane in the courts of heaven, and is in need of Gods reasoning ability to help that poor pathetic individual see him or herself. We need God! We need Jesus Christ! We need help! We need freedom! We need peace with God!
God invites us to reason with Him and to fellowship with Him for the purpose of our redemption! We need His reason! We need His mercy! We need His grace! We need His power to overcome! We need the gift of the Holy Spirit! In fact God tells us to “SEEK” Him for the purpose of obtaining a gift of His righteousness.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. KJV
Look at what the Bible tells us to do! SEEK! We are to inquire after Him for our “get out of satanic bondage free card” so we can be in His kingdom of righteousness.
It is a command of Jesus Christ to SEEK, so our life will be filled with right doing and no longer filled with soul destroying acts of wickedness. Acts of sin are always prompted by Satan and His demons! Sin is a heart response to carnal passions that are prompted by the influence of evil spirits working on our minds. Sin is the kingdom of unrighteousness, the kingdom of Satan and his demons. When a man yields to his favorite lust, that man is a liar if he says “the devil made me do it…” He is a liar and a mouth piece for Satan, because he justifies sin as act that he has no control over, as if Jesus Christ and His power to overcome sin (Luke 10:19) was non-existent.
Jesus Christ in Matthew 6:33 tell us to seek, to be in His kingdom of righteousness. When we enter the kingdom of God, what is the first thing that Jesus does for the wicked sinner?
Matthew 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. KJV
Wow! The first thing Jesus Christ does for the wicked sinner is cast out devils! He removes the evil spirits from having access to the MIND of the repentant SEEKER after righteousness.
Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
KJV
Therefore, if the “mouth piece only” Christian says “the devil made me do it…” or other SELF JUSTIFYING lies, he makes the gospel a perversion. Look at what the Bible has to say for such a person, that makes excuses for their carnal wickedness.
Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? KJV
We see that the “SPIRIT OF GRACE” is then therefore, the HOLY SPIRIT bringing spiritual power to the soul by removing the evil demons that press down their lusts on the soul, by working on the mind. Matthew 12:28 shows that when we enter into the kingdom of God, we are actually given the spiritual power which removes one by one the demons that influence us to sin!
Therefore, if a person is still in sin, then they are a “REJECTOR OF THE SPIRIT OF GRACE.” A rejecter of the Holy Spirit, a rejecter of the KINGDOM OF GOD! The reason they do not seek (Matthew 6:33) is because they SECRETLY love the wicked abomination in their life. They are not really interested in having complete freedom from law breaking, because there is still a secret love affair with the demons that influence them to do certain acts of hate against God. This is a serious lack of conversion!
God loves us! God has sent His Son Jesus Christ to live out a life in the sinful flesh, but not ever commit one act of sin. Jesus Christ lived in a nasty fallen body, just like yours or another person on this earth, and by faith, and faith alone receiving grace, just like us, He got victory over sin in the FLESH! He lived this life as a man and did not sin.
What great love is that? What would make Jesus Christ do what He did for us? Why does He want to save us from the power of the enemy so badly, that He would risk all for us? What a wonderful sacrifice, not even mentioning the cross, look at what He gave up in heaven, just so He could die on the cross for us! He became a man! The infinite God became like us, with the risk of losing all for people that did not even care about Him!
Jesus Christ did this for us when we were still rebellious and in our sin, when we did not even appreciate His eternal sacrifice for us!
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. KJV
Why should we not SEEK after Him? Why should we not want to reason with Him? He has only good in store for us! He has only peace offerings for our soul! He has only love to shed abroad (Rom 5:5) in our hearts! Why would a person not want to seek after God to be free from breaking the MORAL LAW of the Ten Commandments, when Jesus did all that He did for us? He is offering us spiritual power to be free! He wants to make an at-one-ment with us, by casting out the evil spirits that cause us to sin, and He wants to replace the wickedness with His BLOOD BOUGHT righteousness! The Bible says we are His!
1 Cor 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. KJV
We are the purchased passion of His eternal sacrifice, why do we not seek after Him to be free from the sin in our lives? Jesus is waitng on our HEART FELT prayer, He is waiting to send conviction, so we can know where we are falling short, but how many are in a lifeless paralysis, a spiritual stupor, drunk but not with wine, awake but asleep to righteousness?
When are we going to SEEK after Christ as the blood bought souls that we are? When are we going to give Him the glory due to His name? Is He not worthy to pick a day and pray and fast for spiritual help to break the chains of sin that have bound us to a worldly, and shallow experience with Him? When are we to do this?
Tomorrow may be too late? Tomorrow is not promised to us! Satan is always working to bring up some obstacle to block out our time for prayer, to block out our time with the Word of God, he is working among our friends and family to hedge up the way so that we do not have any peace and time to seek God! We need to just do it! We need to just SEEK after Christ with our hearts in our hand ready to give it to Him during a soon season of prayer and fasting, a season of SEEKING after the ONE that has done so much for us!
Will you not make a commitment to Him right now? Will you not ask Him to help free up your schedule, so you can spend some time in DEEP prayer and confession? Will you not kneel down until your knees are red and your feet numb, but strive to pray just a little longer? Jesus want His people to SEEK Him for all He has done, and that is our duty! It is our MORAL obligation to yearn after Him as a young colt seeks after his mother, or a new born calf “Lows” after his mother. If the dumb animals seek after their parents, HOW MUCH MORE SHOULD WE NOT SEEK AFTER JESUS CHRIST?
That reminds me of a story of a young boy that ran away from home at 13 years of age, because of an argument with his dad. He had a good home and everything a young boy could want, but he was so offended he left, thinking he would teach his father a lesson. Before he knew it three years had gone by, and he was still a kid, but his childish anger was turned to a deep longing after his parents love and care for him. He wanted to see his mom and his dad that he treated so badly, after his hateful act of running away. He was afraid to come home after a point and was too ashamed of what he had done, but there came a day when he did not care about his youthful pride, his desire to see mom and dad again was too great.
So he got on a train, and left a message for his parents that if it was okay for him to come home to put a white sheet in the apple tree in the yard. For the train tracks went right by his parents house, and he would look ou the window, and if he saw the white sheets he would get off at their twon and come home. As the train rounded the bend, he looked up and saw white sheet all over the yard and house and apple tree. He was so happy to see mom and dad still loved him after all the hurt he caused them.
Deut 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye . KJV
Ps 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye , hide me under the shadow of thy wings, KJV
God says we are the apple of His eye, and He is waiting on us to return home! He has white sheets of His righteousness to give us! We are to be trees of righteousness, clothed in white!
Isa 61:3
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness , the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.KJV
Rev 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. KJV
God is waiting! Are you willing?
Pete
