What do you guys think of the Book Of Mormon and Revelations? I have not read them but I would like to. I'll give RLDS and Mormons one thing....they recognized that there are contradictions in the Bible and turned to something else for better understanding.
I went to a Restoration school for four years and we didn't learn too much about the religion but we did have a religion class.
Now before you think it no I am not talking about Mormonism. It comes from that but the huge Restoration thing going on around here in Missouri is very very different.
I have problems with this religion just like any other Christian religion. One is that they believe that Zion(basically the Kingdom Of God or the new Heaven on Earth) will happen here in Missouri. That to me just seems very random.

Yeah they got it all wrong on this, for when Jesus will come back in power ang glory He will reign from the city of Jerusalem, not from Missouri or Zimbabwe. Israel will be the first nation again after Jesus' return. Have met some Mormon missionaries (from USA and one was Canadian) in my town here, éhéh as I shared my faith in Jesus with them they wanted to convert me to their religion. Well I have read their books , the book of Mormons, the pearl of Great price, and another one I don’t remember. There are many contradictions with what Jesus says in the Gospels. For example in one passage of the book of Mormon it is said to forgive 2 or 3 times you enemy and if he does not repent you can smite him.

David. Aside from the 40000 instead of 4000 chariots, there is no contradiction in the Bible. Even if we can hesitate in some versions on the sense of a verb. It’s all come down to (and only) how the version has been translated from the original manuscripts.
The contradictions in book of the Mormons is not of this kind, i.e. how a word or a particular form of phrase or grammar was perhaps harder to translate from the original language into English, but it has to do with contradictions of the very basics of Christianity.
When in one book, you find Jesus saying the opposite of what He says in the gospels , you can be sure that the book is false. That’s why I posted the example about forgiveness. In Jesus teaching , forgiveness is unconditional , the Mormons preach another Jesus.
It is that simple. A Christian does not need deeper study to understand that the Mormon book is not of God, you just read it and you know it’s false. The book of Mormons is not more Christian than the Quran.

There were a pair of Mormons here of all places, with their coats and ties and such. Ia asked them on the street "What did you do to make your bishop mad at you where they sent yout o a place like New PHialdlephia, Ohio!"
They thought I was joking.
I was not.

You are way too into the Bible. That is all I have to say. If you want to delusion yourself into not thinking more clearly about it to really understand what is going on and come to the reality that christianity is a cult(a good cult in my opinion for the most part) then I'm not even going to keep trying to help you understand better.

David,
I am wondering how you became a Mormon. When I was in school in CA. I met some Mormons and really liked them as people. We did not get into doctrine, but we invited the missionaries to our worship and they came and were very cordial. One of young men really knew the Bible (KJV) and I wish we could have discussed Bible doctrine. I am still wanting to ask some questions.
