I am planning to stop using the internet in the next couple days. Their is just to much smut on the internet and I spend to much time on it. It's like I can come home and with a few clicks of the mouse and a few words typed in I can look at whatever perverted stuff that comes to mind. Don't get me wrong, the Internets a great information and communication tool, I'm just planning to use in a Library and internet cafes from now on. It will help me free up some time to spend time with my family, read book, considerate on work and do house work. It's like the verse says if you hand offends you cut it off, well in this case the internet offend me. And I know it's something I have to do personally, because I know when I have to deprive myself of something it must be total. It's like when I smoked cigeraties, I could never cut back but when I went cold turkey and kept it far away from me I had no problems. If anyone could please get me a good list of book or some other reading material for the future it would be greatly appreciated.

I guess I worded my post the wrong way, I use to watch porn over the internet but have stopped. But I feel the temptation is to great and don't want to go back. I do own a bible and read it almost daily, but I still would not mind some books on theology that I can find at my local christian book store.

There is a great deal of free information/books on the internet. I would primarily suggest that you start with pretty much anything at www.vincentcheung.com. There is a huge amount of edifying material on this website. It has been very challenging and refreshing for me to read it. Very Calvinistic (Biblical). www.monergism.com and www.reformed.org also have valuable resources such as Calvin's commentaries (on reformed.org). All of this is free. Cheung's site has pdf files that you can print out and put into a binder. Before I bought some of them from his Lulu site, I had just printed them off at the school library, two pages to one side, and stapled them. Easier on the eyes. Something I would suggest is to keep in mind... depriving yourself entirely of things that are not in themselves evil (for example, the internet, or TV, drinking alcohol in moderation, or certain foods, etc) does more to encourage your flesh than to mortify it. See Colossians 2:20-23. I was all the more thankful when the Lord blessed me by causing me to realize that I did not have to run in fear of things that are not in and of themselves evil. For the first month or so after I was saved, for example, I avoided computer games and television almost entirely because I was afraid of falling back into the old enslavements. But self-control and discipline is not accomplished by simply cutting yourself off, without thought or consideration, from that which *could*, but does not necessarily have to, cause sin issues.

Thanks for the info but my minds made up. Unless the internet gets cleaned up I am going to go the next good while without it starting today. I don't feel I am running from my problems, if I what to use it I can go to the library, I don't see anything wrong with this. I wrote down some books form the book forum. So good long internet.

Alright, bye! Yes, there is nothing wrong with restricting yourself to using the library or something like that. It would be much harder to get away with the sorts of sins you are afraid of in that environment, and this would restrain you from doing them.

I would recommend not using the Internet because it is clearly ruining your grammar and spelling skills.

It would free up more time for anyone who does not have the Internet in their home, especially If you still are working a job. I decided not to have Internet in my home because it was costing valuable time praying and reading the Bible. I would recommend the Holy Bible.
