Roger Olson, the famous Arminian professor at Baylor University who wrote dozens of books, including Arminian Theology: Myths And Realities, has agreed to do an internet radio debate with me and Jeff Fuller on our internet radio show on January 4th, 2009, 4pm, about Arminianism and Calvinism. This is intimidating to me; I've never even been to college! Will the famous college professor and author tear us apart? Will the truths of Calvinism be able to finally triumph over one of Arminianism's best? Tune in and find out!

That is pretty cool. I've heard Roger Olson on a radio show once.
I think that Arminianism agrees too much with Calvinism to be able to effectively refute Calvinism.
If you ever want to debate a Moral Government guy, let me know.

maybe some day. By the way, we plan on doing this in such a way that I have never heard before, it'll be unique. It was so unique it got Roger's attention, which is why he's willing to debate us lightweights. Tune in!

Sounds pretty cool. I will try to remember and listen in. Why don't you send us a reminder over here a couple of days beforehand Chris? I disagree with both sides, but think that Arminianism is more easily defeatable because it isn't as logical or close knit and, as Jesse said, borrows some of its theology from Calvinism...

Yeah I really consider Calvinism and something like MGT or Pelageanism to be exact opposites, not Arminianism and Calvinism...

Arminianism is really modified Calvinism. Arminius himself denied freewill and strongly believed in total depravity. He also taught penal substitutionary atonement and some sort of Perseverance Of The Saints by which a person can lose his salvation only by denying Jesus Christ (salvation cannot be restored once lost) not necessarily by sin.

Unfortunately the format has been changed from debate to more of a discussion, but it'll be vvvvvvvvvery cool all the same. Tomorrow, 4pm EST, here. Podcast it if you can't hear it live.

I listened to part of this audio. I agree with others that Arminius and Calvin are too close in their theology to lead to enough refutation to make a debate interesting.
God bless you guys.
