Martin Luther King Jr. Day - No classes today.
Tuesday, January 22, 2008
We arrived at Florida State University today at noon. After finding parking, we made our way to the free speech area. I began preaching at 12:30, and within 30 minutes I was able to gather a fairly large crowd. I defended the Bible against atheism, evolution, and secular humanism. I also preached that “God…now commandeth all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30).
It began to rain around 2:00 pm, and Evangelista quickly took shelter just outside of the library. I continued to preach in the downpour with students still listening attentively and asking questions. There were the usual professing christians who defended sin as well. I kept asking them to give me one scriptural reference to back-up what they vehemently defended, yet not one of them could give a single scriptural reference. As I continued to reason with them, it began to rain even harder, so I decided to take shelter with Evangelista at the library entrance.
A few students followed along and wanted to continue conversing with me. A young lady approached us and said that we were not loving enough, and that we were doing it all wrong. I patiently responded to her, but she simply could not understand true biblical preaching. As far as she was concerned, we were unraveling all of her hard work, and now she would have to explain to these innocent little students how we were “wrong” in calling sin sin, and for warning them of hellfire and judgment to come. Honestly, it’s like talking to a stone wall sometimes. I am considering that maybe God has sent the strong delusion Paul prophesied of in II Thessalonians 2:11.
As we talked with this professing christian, another young lady waited patiently to speak with me. She eventually gave up and trotted off in the light rain, but not without getting my attention. I quickly excused myself and ran after her. She asked which denomination we claimed, and which church we attended. I explained that we represented Jesus Christ, and simply believed the Bible. She was very young, and wanted to plug into a local church, and she seemed encouraged by the preaching. I explained our ministry to her and did recommend a local church for her to seek out biblical fellowship.
Another young lady who stood in the rain listening, and who seemed offended at first, came back to us and said that the Holy Spirit spoke to her, and to tell us “don’t stop preaching.” She continued to say that if the students did not want to listen to us, then it was their business, and that we should continue to do what the Lord has called us to do. She seemed very encouraged. An older gentleman also approached us and thanked us for coming to the campus. He said that what we were doing reminded him of when he was a young boy, listening to his dad preach on the streets in Miami, FL. He was also very encouraged.
The rain eventually stopped, and we made our way back to the free speech area. Evangelista began to preach, and was able to gather a modest crowd. As she preached on hell fire, among other biblical topics, the students became very agitated, and demanded that I stop filming. Evangelista then handed the crowd over to me, and as I preached, a muscular student kept shouting and asking why God allowed all of the suffering to go on in the world. He was very vile and foul-mouthed, and I told him he had better repent. He threatened to beat me up, but I simply ignored him and continued preaching. Also, while Evangelista preached, a girl approached me and said that her spirit bore witness that what we were doing was God’s will
It eventually started raining again, so we decided to call it a day around 4:00 pm.

We arrived at FSU today at 11:00 am, and spent about an hour searching for parking. This is one of my favorite campuses to preach, but parking is an entirely different matter. We finally found a spot, quickly made our way to the free speech area and began preaching around 12:00 noon. I was able to gather a very large crowd rather quickly.
Students asked lots of questions, and there were many hecklers. One particular student said that we were preaching a false message because we did not smile and say that God is love (which I did mention earlier). He soon came back, only this time hopping around and dancing like a fairy, screaming at us (and he was not smiling either) and foaming at the mouth. He kept raising his arms upwards, screaming and jumping around as if doing some sort of ballet dance. He eventually left screaming, spinning, and in my opinion, just plain freaking-out. There was definitely something wrong with that young man. There was also one lady who kept yelling that Jesus ate little babies. She would actually mimic and reword my preaching, twisting it until it finally ended with the same convoluted theme. Yes, folks, this is the type of mentality we deal with on America’s college campuses every week.
I continued to reason with the students about repentance, faith in Christ, living obedient to God, and victory over sin. I focused for an extended time on the “sin free” topic, as many professing christians said that they were just sinners, and that there was nothing they could do about it.
One girl in particular yelled out that she was a sinner, but she loved Jesus. After I patiently reasoned with her and showed her in the Word of God how Jesus Christ delivers from sin, she seemed very convicted and stayed there the entire afternoon, soaking in all of the preaching. Later she asked me when we would be visiting FSU again. She seemed very encouraged.
There were a number of students there these past two days whom we recognized from last year. One in particular, a polite, Jewish student, stood there for hours each day just listening to the preaching. Evangelista mentioned that he seemed very sincere, and wanted to learn more about Christ.
After I finished preaching, a group of students surrounded me and began to ask questions, while the rest of the crowd dispersed. I then called for Evangelista to preach, and she eventually had a small crowd gather. She preached on repentance, faith in Christ, forgiveness, and why we preach the way we do.
One Christian girl approached me as Evangelista preached and told me that she understood what we were saying and was in complete agreement. She said that she was disgusted with the “happy church” mentality in most of today’s churches. She also said that the previous week, her pastor spoke on the ministry of John the Baptist and that our preaching reminded her of that. I spoke with her for about 20 minutes, and felt refreshed by her purity of heart and desire to obey the Lord.
Evangelista also had a sincere Christian young man approach her while she was preaching and was in total agreement with us as well, and said that we were preaching the truth of God’s Word. He, too, stated that a lot of churches are just not feeding people the Word. In fact, he stated that the Lord was dealing with him about open air preaching. She was very encouraged to see a young man who understood true repentance, living holy and obedient, and the biblical concept that Christians can live free from sin in Christ.
We also distributed bibles to the students who were interested. It was definitely a great day of preaching.
We left around 3:00 pm, and promised to return later in the semester.

We left Tallahassee today and drove to Tampa to preach at the Gasparilla Parade on Saturday.
Friday, January 25, 2008
Today was a day of rest and preparation for the upcoming weekend event.
Saturday, January 26, 2008
There were around 30 team members scheduled to preach the Gasparilla Invasion and Parade event. Some drove in from Panama City and from Tallahassee, and we all met at the host preacher’s home and departed at 10:00 am. We drove in three separate vehicles and made our way to Tampa Bay where the event was being held.
It was estimated that there would be approximately 500,000 people attending this wicked event. When we all unloaded and arrived at our spot, I began to walk the street and preach with bible in hand, while Evangelista filmed. There were hundreds of people everywhere with some form of alcoholic drink in their hand. But I had my trusty little red preaching Bible.
I preached repentance, faith in Christ, and warned the drunkards that they would not, under any circumstances, inherit the Kingdom of God. Most of them opposed, threw beer, and cursed and mocked God. Others claimed to be christians, with beer and cigarette in hand. Some were convicted at the message and became violent by throwing beer bottles, drinks, ice, footballs, anything to shut down the preaching. We had grandmothers who were drunk and became so angry with the message that they actually wanted to fight me. There were women exposing themselves, lesbians groping one another on the street, and constantly getting in our faces to try to distract the preaching.
At one point, Evangelista and I decided to take a bathroom break. While waiting in line, I lifted up my voice and began to preach. There were some police officers nearby and they moved closer just in case something happened. The people in line made comments here and there. One gentleman approached Evangelista with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other, said that he was a Southern Baptist, and that he knew that what he was doing was wrong, but he just couldn’t help it. She told him to repent and that God would give him the grace to stop getting drunk, and to stop doing things he should not be doing. He kind of just shrugged his shoulders and stood back in line. Not interested, I guess.
Another gentleman we conversed with said that he was a christian, with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other (this seemed to be the look of the day), and he said that there was nothing wrong with having a beer or two. I admonished him to turn to Jesus and turn from his sins. We found this same gentleman drunk and trying to attack the team later on. He obviously didn’t stick to just having one or two beers.
There were a handful of people who we reasoned with, and even though some were drunk, they seemed to understand our admonishment for them to turn to God. It was also encouraging to see the team members defending one another from angry hecklers. At one point, a chair flew towards us and hit a couple of the team members. I guess they ran out of things to throw.
Throughout the course of the day, most preachers took turns preaching on the bullhorn, while others were in different spots preaching. Two of the team members also had a huge customized banner that spanned 10 feet, and they walked up and down the route preaching, displaying the skull and crossbones with the scripture “for the wages of sin is death.” The other side said in bold blood red letters: TRUST JESUS!
We finally left the area around 6:00 pm and made our way back to the host preacher’s house for food and fellowship. This preach was definitely a huge success.
PLEASE PRAY FOR US DAILY AS WE PREACH DAILY ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES ACROSS THE COUNTRY!
