Tuesday, February 17 2009 College of William and Mary; Williamsburg Virginia
I arrived on campus around 12:30pm, later than planned but received a trespass warning ticket in an hour anyway.
It would be my first time preaching at this school, and realizing that this is the second oldest school in the country in the historic city and state of Williamsburg Virginia, I was hoping that I would freely be able to exercise my rights that men shed their blood for and died for. I called several different offices Monday and nobody knew anything about any permit process or free speech policies or areas.
I began preaching at 12:50 by the Student Center (I’m assuming) where there was very little foot traffic and soon a light skinned black guy sat down and then 5 or so stopped. The black guy would twist scriptures around trying to say that Paul sinned everyday and admitted to living in sin while being a leader in a Baptist Church where he said he goes to service everyday.
When I began to pound him with scripture he resorted to the “why don’t you preach love” garbage. Soon 20- 25 gathered and the black guy would try to tell people to leave, he soon called the police because he could not stand me preaching to his fellow sinner friends against sin. One young white guy began jumping up and down and cursing extremely loud while confessing to being a masturbator.
The campus police arrived around 1:45 and a woman officer told me that since they received complaints I would have to leave the campus. I was polite, but she would beat around the bush when I asked her about the complaints. Their supervisor which had a suit on and who was not a cop apparently, said that I was cursing and that the students felt threatened so I had to leave. Another tall male officer arrived and would ignore all of my questions. The supervisor said “Trespass him!” then stormed off. They would not answer any of my questions, they were rude and refused to tell me why I was being trespassed. They supervisor earlier said the students cursing was not an issue because they are students, and then later admitted to discriminating against me because he got complaints.
The two officers were preached to and both became angry and said they did not want to hear it. The male officer drove me to my car.
