I have been in prayer about where to go as my fishing hole. I believe in consistency and live in a somewhat small town (20,000) so I run into the same people frequently and want to use this to the advantage of the gospel - being able ot plant more seeds and water for a change!
I am considering several different places and have not done any of them before. Anyone who has done 1-2-1s or passed out tracts at any of these places I welcome your comments - ideas for openers, tracts to use, or things to avoid. Places I am considering (and I will do about 2-4 of these weekly) are:
High School Courthouse Little League baseball fields at night Nursing homes Wal-Mart Local coffee shop
There are really no big gathering places of people which is why I chose the places I did. I will contnue to do the big small town events at the local Coliseum but have noticed eitehr large crowds or people mulling about at some of the other places.
thanks for the input!

I live in a SUPER small town (when I am not at school) but my brother and I drive 45 minutes to a huge mall. We can reach sooo many people there and it is well worth the drive. Passing out tracts at malls is sometimes not a good idea because security will kick you out, but maybe you could consider driving farther away to reach more people.

The baseball fields & the coffee shop have been good in retrospect here. Wal mart greeters should always get some lit to read so as not to get bored!

I do go up to Austin or San Antonio when I have the chance and people to go with (men in particular) but for the most part, I feel led to be consistent in my OWN town, cause people are going to hell here too unfortunately. I go out in cities for the nite scene to stay fresh and talk to a wider variety of people (don't meet too many mystics, homosexuals, etc in a small town)
I passed out tracts yesterday at the little league fields for opening day. then met up with JesusCrew and hit the streets in San Antonio.

Try praying every day for God to allow you to be a blessing and put someone in your path to witness to, and give you the boldness to speak. Then always make sure you are prepared with tracts and a even a pocket Bible. I where one of those belly packs and always have many types of tracts and my Bible. I call it a "seed bag", and no sower should ever be without their seed bag.
Our ministry does set up and host outdoor events at carnivals, fairs, and festivals; but I teach our workers that the training they get is only so the can be more affective in ministering where God has them at all times. That is why my mistry name is "Minister Where You Are".
You don't have to make set times to go out, make yourself always on call; then every trip from the house or even a wrong number or sales call is an opportunity so see what God is up to.

thanks for the suggestions. I do carry tracts with me at all times, and pass them out throughout the day, and do one on ones as they come. But I feel the need for consistency and a place as well. I am not very disciplined, so this is certainly not something I came up with myself! I plan to go alone. I find it difficult to find people to go with at night on the streets in downtown areas.
There is such a lack of consistency in going out in my area, and then because I am a woman, some places (like bar disctricts) make me feel insecure and unable to do one on ones without other men being around just in case (men who are believers on the same team of course). I've been hit on more than once while doing a one on one and it is becoming very discouraging. So that is one reason I feel led to go out alone in my small town during the day, no need for others to be there, no "danger" of being hit on, etc.

flea markets came to mind - anyone ever go there? there's a HUGE one near where I live I've been to two separate flea markets the last two weeks. We got booths, handed out tracts, did "interviews" on camera (helps to draw a crowd) and people even got saved. You can find out more about what happened at my blog here: www.xanga.com/Rev_Kerrigan and you can watch some of the interviews at my website here: www.pinpointevangelism.com/29.htmlThe spots at flea markets are really quite cheap and since you have purchased the spot, they can't say anything to stop you, including saying that you are "soliciting." The only restriction I have found is that you have to stay in your booth. We gave out free "prizes" if someone would take the "good person test", like Ten Commandments coins, Million Dollar Bill Tracts and Big Money Tracts. It really is quite effective and people literally come to you!

Walmart invariably will have people put flyers on cars. Usually I see them all over the parking lot. This is VERY convicting.... if people aren't ashamed to pass out flyers for a worthless tanning bed, shouldn't saved people be proud of Jesus at Walmart?
At Walmart, it is always easy to start like this: Take a gospel tract, and weave it into the car seat of the basket. The cart pusher will have to see it. If you need to work up some more courage, go to the bathroom even if you don't need to and leave one on the mirror or hand dryer.
Walmart usually is so swarmed with customers and understaffed that they really don't have time to deal with "solicitation". And there are always people walking around in there wasting time. Strike up a conversation. If you are on the vitamin aisle, ask "Do you know which of these vitamins are good for back pain (for example)?" Then swing the conversation (within a minute or two to keep the person's attention) back to the spiritual.
College campuses are great places to witness too.
Flea markets... what an excellent idea.
