Monday December 7th 2009: Craven County Jail, New Bern NC
For the past two weeks I joined Rainbow ministries which ministers to in mates at a jail in downtown New Bern. I was able to begin attending these jail services through Brother Pat. It was a very sobering experience the first week I visited the jail. I have never been arrested, nor have I seen inside a jail where the in mates stay. I considered the fact that because of sin and Satan, millions of people are locked up being treated like animals. If you are not in prison my friend you are abundantly blessed.
This week I had the privilege to preach, I preached for 30 minutes from John 8:31-36 “No more a prisoner of sin.” In the particular cell block we were in, the 15-20 in-mates are not in cells behind bars or a steel door, but reside in an open area where there are several bunk beds, tables and 1 television. I preached very hard and loud and I felt like the Lord anointed the message. A man brought me a cup of water about 10 minutes into the message. The majority of the in-mates were in front quietly listening and appeared to be interested in the message. When I was finished preaching 2-3 individuals thanked me for the message and I prayed for two individuals separately, and talked with one of them for several minutes about the born again experience.
Praise the Lord!

I had the privilege once again to preach in the downtown jail in New Bern. I preached a little over 30 minutes from Eccl. 3:1-8;12:13,14 - "The conclusion of man." The Lord was there and many appeared to listen intently throughout the entire message. .Some in-mates were unusually loud and rowdy inside their cells, I believe they were this way on purpose. I prayed with two individuals separately, one of which was a 17 year old that has been released already according to what he stated. I truly thank God for the opportunity to lift up Christ in such a way, and preaching these messages in the jail has been a blessing to me.
