WVU @ Morgantown, WV.
Tuesday 04-03-’07
This day a couple brothers and myself went to WVU in Morgantown, WV. We went to evangelize the lost and encourage the weak and/or hungry brothers and sisters in Christ. There were many that the Lord had brought our way and here are a few of the witnessing conversation highlights I had. All the glory to God and His Son Jesus. We handed out many Gospel tracts as well. There many other shorter encounters with students but these were the most meaningful ones in my opinion.
Nan was a Catholic that I came across. She said she’d read her Bible some and so as I asked her how I could get my sins forgiven I handed her a booklet refuting Catholicism and tracts doing the same. She replied by saying go to church. I pointed out to her that infant water baptism is shown nowhere in the Bible and that praying to the saints and Mary was an abomination to God by using Deut. 18:10,11. I challenged her to look to God’s Word for the answers and not to man and his religious systems, pointing out that it was by turning from sins and trusting in Jesus that God would cleanse her of her sin.
Mira was an agnostic who told me her dad was Catholic and her mom Muslim, hence the reason for her being an agnostic. I was lead to witness to her about Jesus and did so. She was open to what I had to say and received tracts. She said she would read the tracts and think about what I said.
Kirk was a strong brother in Christ who told me his dad was a Methodist preacher, so I asked him where he was at spiritually speaking and if he was following Jesus right then. He said he was. I quoted 1 John 2:4 to him which says “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” This seemed to stir him so I admonished him to live a life of obedience to God and to do what He has told us to do and to live a holy life in fear before the Lord. I touched on OSAS with him and he said firmly that that was a lie. I was led to ask him about his beliefs about the end times. He said his dad said we would have to endure all the way to the very end but his mom thought we would be caught up at any moment. I explained to him that his dad was right by showing him Mt. 24 and asking him if God spared the Israelites by lifting them out of Egypt and putting them in the promised land or did he take and lead them through the desert of many trials before bringing them into the promised land? He agreed with the latter. I encouraged him to shine his light among his friends and to produce fruit. He was thankful for the encouragement. I gave him tracts refuting OSAS and also a CD that does the same.
Veronica was from Africa and was a professing Christian. She said that she had grown up Catholic but was no longer in that religion. I talked to her about repenting of sin and she said she had and was trusting in Jesus for salvation by faith. I spoke briefly to her in regard to OSAS and it was clear she believed one could become spiritually dead through sin so I gave her a “Bible Questions about Eternal Security” tract and then spoke briefly against the Pre-Trib lie. She had a weak understanding of the Bible in this regard so it was a blessing to strengthen her. I encouraged her to produce fruit and draw near to God.
Angie was a professor of Christ that somewhat believed the lie of OSAS so I gave her a “Bible Questions about Eternal Security” tract and then discussed it with her. She said her and her husband had been studying it and was very thankful for the CD and tracts and what I had shared with her.
John was a Catholic who stopped when I handed him a tract and we conversed. He said was wasn’t orthodox in his Catholicism and that there were many things that were bothering him about the religion and that it was his mom and dad and his girlfriend that were the ones “dragging” him to church. I shared my testimony of what Jesus is doing in my life and who He is to me with John and then tackled the heresies of Catholicism. He agreed with me as I refuted Mary worship and praying to her, infant water baptism and the communion wafer being the actual physical body of the Christ. I also shared a bit of brother Jim’s testimony of how he came out of the Catholic church. I felt led to ask him if he and his girlfriend were being sexually immoral and he told me they were so I shared 1 Cor 6:9,10 and Rev 21:8 with him and told him he must stop or perish. I also pleaded with him to come out of the Catholic religion because it and him following it would be one reason why God would damn his soul to hell. He said he would seriously consider this and so I gave him the book “Is This The Mary of The Bible?” and a few more tracts against R.C.
Sara was Christian that believed OSAS but turned from it when I shared Eze 18:24; Heb 3:14; Romans 8:1; 12,13 with Galatians 5:19-21 and 6:8; Mt 10:22, 33 and other passages. I gave her a “Bible Questions about Eternal Security” tract and then spoke briefly against the heresy of a Pre-Trib rapture. I encouraged her to study Mt. 24; Dan 7-12 and The Revelation of Jesus for herself and not trust what any man tells her and to always go to the source of God’s Word to find out what Truth is. I also encouraged her that when considering marriage follow what Jesus said and marry a believer who hasn’t been married before and gave her Mt 5:32 and 19:9 for starters to study up on. I then quoted John 14:15 where Jesus said: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” and told her she would be surprised what Jesus commanded us to do and told us to do if she studied that in Mt., Mk., Lk., Jn. and Rev 2 & 3. She had to go but thanked me very much for encouraging her and challenging her.
David was an 18 year old Catholic who was interested in what the Bible has to say about salvation and so after talking briefly against the heresies of Roman Catholicism with him I gave him the book “Is This The Mary of The Bible?” and a few more tracts.
Zach was an 18 year old Catholic sitting on a bench whom I gave tracts to that refute the religion and was open to hearing my profession against it. He received it well and said he would look into what I said. I asked him if he believed the Bible was the absolute Word of God and he wavered a bit so I gave him a booklet with evidence for the Bible being God’s Word.
Dan was a professor of Christ who kind of believed in OSAS but he turned after much study of God’s Word right on the spot. I praise God that he was weak in his belief of it to where he was able to see the truth. I then spoke to him quoting 1 John 2:4 and John 14:15 letting him know how important being obedient to the Lord is. I then quoted Mt 18:3,4 to him, which says: “Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” I told him how important it is for us to humbly cling to and trust in the Lord Jesus, just like a little child does with their dad, and this is the proper relationship with God that we have to have that will allow us entrance into heaven. As we were talking, one of his friends stepped up and I gave him a track. I asked Dan if he had ever shared his faith with his friend. He said he hadn’t so I said to him, right in front of his friend, that he should give his testimony to him. Dan then said to his friend “have I ever told you what I believe?” And right there it started. They went away talking and I saw them later still talking. May God bless Dan in his new found boldness.
Evan and “Skip”, two friends, were “professors of Christ” that believed in the lie of OSAS. I walked them through much Scripture and reasoned with them showing them that the Scriptures themselves clearly refute it. Through much wielding of and use of the Sword of God they both were shaken in their foundation. I gave them a “Bible Questions about Eternal Security” tract and reasoned with them some more. May God open their eyes, may they be willing to open them!
The amount of Gospel literature we gave out today was about:
2300 Gospel tracts and a variety of other materials refuting different heresies such as OSAS, Evolution and Catholicism.
